this isn't about public schools vs private schools, this is just about the inflation in school fees and that's it, i'm pretty sure no parent would be happy they have to be pay more for fees no matter how rich you are, more is still more.you public school kids will argue to the death that:
1. you have equal opportunities
2. that private schools are shit/spoiled/etc
3. you will come out the same after 6 years
however the truth is that
1. there are more opportunities in terms of everything at private schools
2. grounds, facilities are better, teachers may be more caring
3. you have a greater chance of making friends with rich children
4. after graduating you have the opportunity to employ a different mindset to hsc focused public school children depending on which school you went to and what your parents wanted you to get out of that specific type of education
