My subject combination is pretty uncommon to be honest i.e. I don't know anyone else who is doing it.
- Advanced English
- Extension 1 + 2 Maths
- Chemistry
- Music 1
- 1 Unit Religion

Yeah, my subject combo is weird too:

English (Standard)
Maths + Extension
Chemistry
Studies of Religion
Economics
Ancient History

I'm basically doing subjects from every faculty... :(

lol nice

Actually I would love that combination. If I can re-choose my subjects I would seriously drop Bio and Chem (which I already dropped) and went for Geography and Legal Studies/Economics

i get told im fucked by most people because i do ALL humanities
i do every single unit offered by the history department...
SIGH

english
ancient
modern
legal studies
art
extension history

.....
so screwed for scaling

Try doing all creative subjects (pretty muchos)

Visual Art
Music 2
Drama
Advanced English
Ext 1
Ext 2

7/10 units are creative. And English is compulsory. So out of my 'chosen' units, only 1 is non-creative. If only i did dance...

tell me about it.
but i'm cool, i've finished my Drama IP, Music and on my 5th draft of Ext 2. Major works aren't that much of a hassle if you're organised, and enjoy the subjects.

My choices are:
- Economics (2 Unit)
- Business Studies (2 Unit)
- Legal Studies (2 Unit)
- Advanced English (2 Unit)
- English Extension 1 (1 Unit)
- English Extension 2 (1 Unit)
- Modern History (2 Unit)
- Mathematics (2 Unit)
- Japanese (2 Unit)

So in total, that's 16 Units.

My questions are:
- How many units did you do? (Or are doing now)

-
I'm really excelling in Commerce at the moment, but 3 commerce studies?!?
Which commerce subject should I drop...

-
Should I also take science? Would physics go well with law?

I'm in Yr10, by the way :)
Any help from you seniors is much appreciated (^__^)y

Wow 16 units. They probably can't run all of those on the timetable.

Out of your social science choices, i'll drop business because the content is a bit dry, imo anyway!

You could take some science to add a bit of variety to your subject choices. Get rid of Business Studies (I'm a little biased).

My combo for Year 12: English. Maths ext 1 + 2. Eco. Ancient history. History Extension.

er, while you definitely can take 16 units, i do hope you realise what you're getting yourself into, you would be taking 2 or 3 or more subjects than most other people, which is a hell of a lot.

If you plan to keep on with this many units through year 12 (regardless of whether you drop a commerce and pick up a science) just know that you would be doing almost double the work of everyone else and that it would be extremely difficult to maintain very high marks across the board. I'm not saying you can't do it, but you would be working your ass off 24/7.

Also, something to keep in mind is that 6 of your units (thats 3 subjects) will not count for anything at the end of it all, you may want to think about that. Of course, if you cant deal with the workload you can always drop subjects.

I took up an extra subject at start then dropped it. Nothing wrong with it unless you leave it too late. But I wouldn't take that many all the way through, no real point.

And yeah, I do 3U Maths + English, Phys, Chem and eco. Never heard of it called the asian combo though. I like the 99 part :headbang:

Thank you all for your advice.

A lot of you are suggesting to drop out Business Studies?
Is it really that bad?
LOL. Better take your advice. You're the seniors.

~Anyways. I've fixed up my subject selection a little bit.

My choices are:
- Economics (2 Unit)
- Legal Studies (2 Unit)
- Advanced English (2 Unit)
- English Extension 1 (1 Unit)
- Physics OR Modern History (2 Unit)
- Mathematics (2 Unit)
- Japanese (2 Unit)

So in total, that's 13 Units.
I really want to focus my skills in COMMERCE and ENGLISH.

What do you think, guys?
PHYSICS or MODERN SOCIETY ???
- I could have more variety by adding PHYSICS
- Or I could have the same idea as other subjects,
*coughESSAYWRITINGcough* -- which is MODERN HISTORY

I'm in Year 10 and I have to choose what subjects I want to do.
Any suggestions are very much appreciated.

Dont really understand why you are concerned about your hsc subjects seeing as your in yr 10. dont waste your time stressing now. stop writing in coloured font. selection with the best scaling subjects would be

eng ext 2
economics
physics
modern history
- keep them

tehe, I agree. Don't worry too much in Year 10. Sure have a good think, but certainly don't stress. You could do a little research on the internet for your dream job or course you want into university or something along those lines. Choose the subjects you will enjoy.

Mate, you're in year 10.
Give it a rest, at least until you've experienced the year 11 workload. I think you'll make a more informed choice then.
