Re: The Official A-League Thread.

Results Round 1:

Melbourne 2 - Adelaide Utd 0
Qld Roar 3 - Perth 0
NZ Knights 0 - Newcastle Jets 0
Sydney FC 1 - CCM 0

First half was very ordinary, but great strike by Ian Fyfe for the winner.

BRING ON THE TARDS NEXT WEEK!!!

Yeah we won, but if it wasn't for Bolton we would have gone down like 7-1... he was a champ, and you know the rest of the team were playing crap when the goalkeeper should be man of the match...

Lets hope we do better against Melbourne...

We want entertainment AND a win...

oh easy on there tiger, Bolton plays well usually and i'd give him MOTM even if the team played crap, those 2 freak reflex/fluke saves were worth the title just by themselves

and like you said, lets entertain and win...another cracker goal (Fyfe's was pretty good) would be welcomed

oh, if anyone knows, dwight wont be playing will he? what's gonna happen with the midfield now? Yorke was the engine room last week and often was last year too so who's capable of taking on that job?

lesgosidaneyefsee! :)

Re: The Official A-League Thread.

Fucking 'Tards won 3-2

Mark Shield was very very ordinary, although the bad decisions went both ways. I am still baffled how Shield missed the Middleby foul, and noone had picked up on Fred's disgusting play.

But a 40000 crowd, great stuff for the A-League. And this just adds to the Syd - Melb rivalry!

FUCK I HATE MELBOURNE!!! :D:D:D

Re: The Official A-League Thread.

Mariners have yet to score and Newcastle Jets continue to underperform with the decent roster that they have. The Knights are still the whipping boys with a very impressive display from Melbourne.

Fernando & Shengqing Qu really are a quality duo. :D

It's because Nick Theadorakopolous is a shit coach. Simple.

Stan Collymore might be coming down under!

Interesting if it did eventuate, its hard to believe that he retired when he was only 31. As long as he keeps his clothes on in public and doesn't get involved in his infamous "public outings" he could do well.

Fitness is a worry of course - Carbone is the same age but had a pre-season with a Serie B Club.

Yes, I did indeed watch a fair bit of the NSL.

And after seeing Jets in Season 1 and Season 2, I'd take Money over Theodorakopolous.

Seriously, what's his game plan been this season? Sit back and defend, try and counter, and let Nick Carle backheel the ball 20 times a game.

That said, we only managed to draw with them.

Can't wait until we can actually get everyone back and match fit .. so much talent on the sidelines right now.

Melbourne to choke, Sydney to claim 'victory' for second straight season :p

Richard Money was a terrible coach. Long ball fiesta. no way. Nick Theo's too good.

Melbourne sucks. Sydney Till I die.

Sydney FC 1 - 0 NZK

I was very dissapointed in tonights performance, it seems that there are 11 individuals on the pitch out there. Too many fucking long balls going absolutely nowhere. Hopefully when we get out full squad back, Butcher may be able to do something with it.

And now apparently he isn't the coach anymore. I pray to god he doesn't end up as an analyst on SBS again.

Frank Farina is a possible replacement. I know Farina didn't impress everyone when he was coach of the Socceroos but he does have potential. What has been doing of late - working as a pundit?

Re: The Official A-League Thread.

Shit this thread has been left behind for a bit!

Anyways, Sydney FC are kicking some ass again which is good with a 4-0 win over NZK last Friday and 2-1 win over Adelaide United. Things are looking good for a top 2 finish, especially with a full squad to pick from.

In other news, Nevin has been sacked by NZK, which is a bit harsh (considering the Chairman has no fucking idea what he is doing, it is he that needs to go). Blieberg has unfortunately left Qld Roar, replaced by Frank Farina, who is not off to a good start after losing 2-0 to Melbourne.

And controversy regarding Asian Champions League qualification, with the AFC's cut off date not allowing this season's Premiers/Champions enter the 2007 competition, meaning Sydney and Adelaide will contest the 2007 ACL. Although I hate Melbourne, I feel sorry for them as they rightfully deserve to be there if they finish Premiers this year, but we are not the only country with this problem, reasons why they are reformatting the ACL in 2008.
