^ I really enjoyed the Kite Runner as well. Khaled Hosseini's other book, A Thousand Splendid Suns was also quite interesting.
Pride & Prejudice, The Book Thief and The Pact are other ones I really enjoyed.

I don't really have a definite favourite, but standouts for me include:

Farseer Trilogy by Robin Hobb (or pretty much any of her trilogies, especially the Liveship Trilogy)

The Old Kingdom Trilogy by Garth Nix

Five Greatest Warriors by Matthew Reilly - so epic though once again, some of the other books are pretty good like Ice Station
