It is. Not having case studies limits your response to a "C" which is a max of 12
My teacher said it was like forgetting to write about a certain topic. He told us to think of it like forgetting to comment on operations if the response asked you to comment on operations, marketing and human resources.

My teacher agrees with the first poster- 15 or 16 MAX.

I don't know if my teacher is a HSC marker but I go to a top 40 school in NSW so...they should know their stuff.

think of it this way, its a major section of your exam, and you've been told you are going to be assessed on a case study/s all year long, and in the final external exam you disregard the whole point of a whole 20 mark extended response question? It would be pretty damn illogical to award students who didn't include a case study some of the upper bands, but ultimately, i guess you are marked on what you produce and how you answer the question..

EDIT: ^ Above poster mentions a valid point as well, take both of what we say into consideration

Good school = better teachers or at least a better cohort. Also, I thought your teacher said "no case study prevents you from getting a good band" and not "if you don't put one in you get a C.

Either way, my 2u maths teacher is a marker and he says, at the end of the day, the markers all sit together and look at all the responses and then decide what to do for each individual year. They also look through all the questions again too and if there is any confusion then there could be two correct answers and so on. What I mean is- scoring isn't absolute and it varies. Its done so OP should just chill and focus on the other exams :awesome:

wtf are you on. A good band is a A or B. Both statements are the same.

And I will agree with you there. Good school rank= good cohort. Not great teachers.

I have absolutely no idea who you are.

No they are not. One is said with absolution while the other is not. One is to "prevent" , the other is implying to "stop with certainty".

I am having dinner now and I think we would have to agree to disagree. All I am saying is that I know people who answered both question 25 and 26 (i.e. both questions in section III) in previous years and still got a decent mark (according to you, since they didn't answer the question at all, then they should get 0.00). If you look back at some of those "HSC in a month" books then occasionally you will also see some entries without a case study. Not the majority- but I have certainly seen one or two.

Tbh, I think we are arguing a pointless point. Also, you don't use case studies in S3, only S4.

We can both agree, not having case studies will hinder your mark and potentially limit your mark. (Potentially because some people write amazing)

The person didn't do case study since they didn't even attempt section 4.

Anyways yeah I am tired (and have 3u english soon) and I agree with your last statement.
