    need to know programming

For the HSC you don't need to know how to program in any language. As long as you understand the programming structures (see the course specs and are able to write pseudocode (English-like statements with defined rules of structure and keywords) or are able to draw a flowchart (diagrammatic...

    UOW Early entry

They usually release offers by faculty. You should receive an email from them by tomorrow. The website also states that they will be sending offers out in the post next week. If you do need to contact them the best way is to call them rather than relying on FB or email.

    Computer IT HELP

An apprenticeship or traineeship might interest you. It will allow you to study at TAFE and get a qualification and gain real paid (I think you get paid) experience at the same time. I think that experience will get you further in this industry than a qualification will. It's all well and good...

Anyone know any online text book to do with Information Processes and Technology?

The Heinemann book was for the previous syllabus but the Davis textbook is the most current one and best one. There's an Excel IPT paper book but it very briefly touches on most dot points.

Band 5 and 6 cut off?

The HSC exams used to be out of 120 so I think they meant 90/120 instead of 90/100. According to the raw mark database (attached) it is 94/120. For a band 5 it was 71-72/120. It could be quite different this year as they've reduced it to 100 marks and there's 10 multiple choice questions.

    Study Tips.

Have you tried doing past papers yet? It's good to know the content but make sure you're able to apply the knowledge to the scenario and be able to gain full marks. You'll do better if you can understand the concepts and apply it to a scenario rather than memorising points.

    Study Tips.

Past papers are the most useful resource for HSC study. It will also help you figure out any weak areas you may have.

Certificate IV enough to get me into University?

Based on this page you would be wasting your time. Is it possible for you to do a similar course at UTS or UWS with a lower ATAR cut-off and then transfer into the course you want to study?

    code-similar or word-based pseudocode?

Take a look at the SDD Course Specifications (from Section 6, page 33) to see examples of pseudocode written by the Board of Studies. You should aim to meet those standards.

SDD Questions [Coping with the HSC]

The password, H43k21 is longer than 5 characters so you know straight away that it is an invalid password and should return false regardless of whether the letter and digits are in the right order. To overcome this error, you should insert a line of code which checks whether valid is true and if...

Scholarships weren't extended but co-op has been extended until midnight, Monday 1st October. For students intending to apply for scholarships in the future, don't ever leave it until the last minute. Set yourself a false deadline a week earlier so that you get your application in on time and...
