First Year Mathematics A (Differentiation & Linear Algebra)

    Re: MATH1131 help thread is it like y = F(x^3) and because F(x^3) is a function of a function, to differentiate y with respect to x you go (3*x^2)*F'(x), where F'(x) = f(x) = cos(x^6)

First Year Mathematics A (Differentiation & Linear Algebra)

Re: MATH1131 help thread why do we need to do this? can you elaborate on this please?

First Year Mathematics A (Differentiation & Linear Algebra)

Re: MATH1131 help thread Why are we multiplying cos(x^6) by 3*x^2? Rip finals

Re: MATH1131 help thread Really? I don't even know how we got to that line in the first place, let alone realise there was a mistake

First Year Mathematics A (Differentiation & Linear Algebra)

Re: MATH1131 help thread wtf is the point of the limit comparison test? I tried reading the theory but it's still not really sinking in Does the numerator just become f(x) and the denominator become g(x) or do you have to actually figure out a function to compare it to?? Like where would you...

Re: MATH1131 help thread Ok thanks for the clarification I'm probably just going to lose heaps of time in the exam coz I'm too dumb to do it in my head haha

First Year Mathematics A (Differentiation & Linear Algebra)

Re: MATH1131 help thread Yeah that's similar to what I did, I thought that was the substitution method though :/

First Year Mathematics A (Differentiation & Linear Algebra)

Re: MATH1131 help thread Can someone please explain how you would integrate this integral by inspection? I know how to do it by substitution but the question specifically asks for that specific method. I tried to differentiate (1+x^2)^3 but I got 6*x(1+x^2)^2 and i don't know what to do...

Re: MATH1131 help thread You know how the line can be expressed as line = point + direction vector? Do I need to do anything with the point at all?
