First Year Mathematics A (Differentiation & Linear Algebra)

Re: MATH1131 help thread How would you know whether to use IVT or MVT? I think I'm kind of confused over that

First Year Mathematics A (Differentiation & Linear Algebra)

Re: MATH1131 help thread Ok so I got the first part with IVT as you suggested, with the second part, I concluded that p2(x) has only one stationery point (-1,1/2) and its concave up, hence it can't ever touch the x axis. So can you just say because p2(x) is always positive, p3(x) can only...

First Year Mathematics A (Differentiation & Linear Algebra)

Re: MATH1131 help thread I'm stuck again... With the first question, I have zero clue what to do... And for the second question, I managed to do part a and part b but kind of lost with part c.

First Year Mathematics A (Differentiation & Linear Algebra)

Re: MATH1131 help thread I'm following the working but in the first step, I don't understand why we're multiply by (1+z conjugate)/(1+z conjugate)

First Year Mathematics A (Differentiation & Linear Algebra)

Re: MATH1131 help thread Omg thanks I got it!!

First Year Mathematics A (Differentiation & Linear Algebra)

Re: MATH1131 help thread Kind of stuck on this, so I tried to equate the (1-z)/(1+z) bit and then sub in z=a+ib. And the real part simplified down to (1-2a+a^2-b^2)/(1-a^b+b^2) (if I even did this correctly). And I'm assuming since |z| =1, (a^2 + b^2) = 1. But I don't really know what to do next?

There's really no way to tell until you're older, more mature, or start working etc. it's tough... Imo the structure of SENG seems a bit more restrictive, I'd defs go for COMP over it. Yeah, I definitely see the value of having a back up. Like I was thinking that I could have commerce as a...
