    Dropping Chemistry, ye or nah?

Definitely depends on if you're confident in your other subjects. Personally I was pretty confident in all my subjects (except English but you can't replace that useless subject for some reason) so I just dropped chemistry in year 11 for a 'bludge' subject then dropped that in year 12. It seems...

my internal ranks are so bad pls send me some sort of motivation lol

Rank 60 or 70 would be 85-89 still though surely

my internal ranks are so bad pls send me some sort of motivation lol

Yea altho it depends on how much ur trials weigh, I also went from lower ranks to somewhat near the top through trials but we had 3 sets of trials. It's still doable anyway if u just get a beast mark in the externals LOL

my internal ranks are so bad pls send me some sort of motivation lol

Yea you still have trials so you could bring your rank back up a bit, also sounds like your internal mark will probs be around a band 5?? (if your rank stays the same) which you could bring up to a b6 with your external mark (e.g. like 86 + 94 = 90)

Past papers or devote time to content for Trials?

Yea as someone else said in this thread it depends on how yourself and your skills. For me learning content was more important since I felt like I could answer any new question due to having pretty good exam technique and in-depth knowledge of the syllabus, whereas if I did past papers only, I'd...

    Trial tips

All I can think of is knowing the content in depth is very important (for me it was more important than past papers for stuff like biology and physics) since a lot of people just do past papers only and don't care about knowing the content in-depth. Also reflecting on feedback from past...

How much do the difference between ranks matter?

More gap internal = more gap for the moderated internal mark (from memory) I think that's why my school reduced the gaps because they expected us all to do well in the HSC

    Differential equations

    ii) Question says "HENCE" meaning you should use part (i). dP/dt = P/30 * (10000-P)/10000 dP/dt = (1/30) * P(10000-P)/10000 dt/dP = 30 (1/P + 1/(10000-P)) using part (i) Integrate: t = 30 lnP - 30 ln(10000-P) + C At t = 0, P = 1200 C = 30 ln8800 - 30ln1200 t = 30lnP - 30 ln(10000-P) + 30...

How to improve after (disappointing) first exam block of Year 11?

Everyone says to improve in maths "just do more past papers" but it's kinda missing some info. If you do 50 past papers but can't solve the final page 40/50 times then what's the point in saying you did 50 papers if there was 0 improvement. When checking the answers you actually need to reflect...

Has anyone made a comeback after half yearlies to achieve their atar goal?

In english speech I got like 11/20 then half yearlies 17/30 so I was nearly last out of 35ish people, but decided to adapt how I was approaching the exams and ended up memorising quotes instead of essays, then did really well in the next assessments/trials (we had 3 trials) and ended up 5th or...

    Career

If you wanna become an actuary then that's a good double degree since some Excel processes can most likely be more efficient with the use of Python. However if you wanna pursue a software dev role, I think actuary doesn't really help much. All I learnt in uni was relating to Excel (barely)...

    can't do Perms and Combs

    (n-1)!/2!(n-3)! x (n-1)!/1!(n-2)! = (1/2)(n-1)(n-2)(n-3)!/(n-3)! x (n-1)(n-2)!/(n-2)! = (1/2) (n-1)(n-2)(n-1) = (1/2)(n-1)^2 (n-2)

    can't do Perms and Combs

ii) The total number of ways to pick 3 points for vertices from both lines is (n+n-1)C3 = (2n-1)C3. The invalid triangles are when 3 points are picked from l1 or 3 from l2. Therefore number of triangles = (2n-1)C3 - nC3 - nC3 = (2n-1)C3 - 2 x nC3 (this method is similar to probability with...

Why are you aiming for such a high ATAR?

Back when I did HSC I studied heaps just for the sake of getting high marks/dux, but if I could redo it I wouldn't cos it's a waste of time. Legit just all goes out the window once you enter uni. Would've rather worked and been more social in high school honestly.
  15. pikachu975

Did you ever get a couple of bad marks in year 12 and end up graduating with a good ATAR?

Yeah i was nearly last in english out of 35ish people after my speech and half yearly but brought it back after that to end up 6th so it's always doable

Should I drop to english standard?

Nah that mark isn't even bad. English standard from memory looked like the same as english advanced except with no Shakespeare text so the workload is most likely similar tbh.

Is Math Ext 1 Beneficial For Advanced

I studied the content in-depth, not just what the textbook teaches (surface level). Physics tutoring helped with this, but for biology I did my own research and used other notes I found, as well as asked my class group chat heaps of questions. I usually printed the syllabus and highlighted all...

Is Math Ext 1 Beneficial For Advanced

I can't fully remember how relevant extension 1 is to advanced but I remember it being easier as well. Also a tutor isn't really needed but if you have spare money and time then you can take one if you want.

How long would you have to plan your response in the HSC?

Agree with this, I did it for bio

    Math Question

Kinda complicated since I wasted 1 year and found a full time job in my 3rd year so I'm still studying part time while working full time (got referred).
