    Math Question

Scholarship + it's closer + the actuary program is pretty good there from what I researched back then

    Math Question

    4a 1/(x+3) + 2/(x-3) = (x - 3 + 2x + 6)/(x-3)(x+3) = (3x + 3)/(x^2 - 9) 5a 1 - 5/(x-1) = (x - 1 - 5)/(x-1) = (x - 6)/(x - 1)

Is it possible to do actuarial studies with only advanced maths?

Hi, I can't comment on UNSW maths subjects as they're most likely harder, but the MQ ones felt really easy so it definitely should be doable without even doing 3U maths. However the really hard subjects are mainly the actuarial/statistics/probability ones.

    How to improve exam technique?

One of the key ones is getting a good tutor, preferably a HSC marker. I had one for physics which helped me answer questions well. However I did biology too without a tutor which brings me to my next point - having a good teacher helps too. E.g. mine told me that answering questions in table...

Is it possible to do actuarial studies with only advanced maths?

Yea you can. I only had 1-2 subjects that really involved any high school maths (aka the 2 pure maths courses). One of them was basically a repeat of some 3U maths content and one had more new content so that wouldn't be affected. However you gotta also ask yourself why did u only do advanced...

Should I focus on English or sustain my ranks in my other subjects?

I had a similar situation to you (english being the worst rank) and didn't bother trying to study hard for english because the subject is useless and it's the only subject where you can study hard for it and somehow decrease ur marks due to the subjectivity. Rather study for stuff that you can...

Do I need to apply for HECS-HELP?

Definitely more worth to pay it over time as jazz said as that's like 40k you can invest and just pay it off over 5-10 years as you work. It just gets deducted from your paycheck each week automatically once you reach the required threshold.

Is it worth preparing early for Uni?

Nah not really needed just don't fall too behind during the semester

Productivity - Can u guys give feedback on this

Revision depends on the person, so for me I reflected after assignments/exams and noticed my maths marks were mostly being lost due to the hard questions. So I trained my mindset on how to approach hard questions when doing past papers so that definitely helped so much (went from getting like...

    comp sci, math or actuarial

IMO for VERY long term purposes, actuary is more likely to be automated than comp sci and comp sci may obviously expand to more fields (AI etc) TECHNICALLY you can just learn coding yourself, do some projects, and get a job in software, as I think employers favour projects a lot. However to...

    Bit lost with studying 😕

5 weeks of papers is more than enough, I think I had a timetable as well for 4-5 weeks-ish as well but did not stick to it (because I ambitiously planned to do 3 papers a day = 8 hrs). I think as long as you understand the content it should be fine, since I personally think content was more...

    specific pen for the hsc??

You can use red pen or even pencil if you want, just runs the risk of it not being dark enough/visible when they scan it.

There's also a rule stating you're allowed to break the social distancing and mask rules if your area has a lower number of cases

How is $80+/hr a justified rate?!?! Tell me your thoughts + why

Oh true I think they're just sick of their job and want u to get out tbh

How is $80+/hr a justified rate?!?! Tell me your thoughts + why

Yeah it's unreasonable but people probably pay for it so they keep doing so it works sadly. I hold the same opinion about general practitioners earning 200k when the ones I've been to have been useless, they just prescribe panadol or tell you to rest and rake in 200k per year. I once asked if...

    Advice for Year 12?

For physics try learn the content in depth rather than just basic understanding. Helps make your answers sound better and stand out. Also remember you can use dot points, subheadings, tables, diagrams, in short answer questions for better formatting.

    Coronavirus/Covid-19 Discussion Thread

Yea in my opinion the LGA specific rules are so dumb because it's likely that the more relaxed LGAs are already infected, as cases have a week delay. However they wait till the outbreak becomes bad before increasing restrictions, but by then it's too late because there's a week delay and it has...
