a book that made you cry

I'm reading that atm (half way through)-Holden is starting to great, so if I turn out from wanting to punch him to crying I'll be impressed! I've cried in Littlest Princess, one of the Circle of Magic books, Flowers for Algernon (ohhh), Book Thief, somewhere in HP hmmm top ones I remember at...

    Year 11 2014 Chat :)

Haha sounds like some of you are doing more work than I did during my yr 12 summer hols or my uni breaks :P For all those bemoaning bad schools, my school used mould infested first edition maths textbooks of some brand people always hate on here(worse than MIF). I find you don't need a lot of...

PAST HSC'ERS: What advice would give to parents who kids are starting Prelim & HSC?

Re: PAST HSC'ERS: What advice would give to parents who kids are starting Prelim & HS My parents were completely no pressure during the HSC-which I think is a good approach. Especially when often parents don't understand the system as well as their child. However I think there are some other...

    Christopher Pyne

The only one I can't stand more is Cory Bernardi, but god CP having the strings on education is possibly more damaging. Yeah I'd like them to actually learn about the world, and also have a secular environment to do so.

EAS estimate for combined law? And AAA question?

Well if get AAA, you'd be automatically in if get the 96.65+ (i.e within 3 points) the scheme promises. So even if you have EAS you won't need it persay, but below 96.65 your EAS could assist in getting you into comm/law.

    First job at 18 y.o?

Getting an RSA/RCG is really easy. Also barista training is normally only a day's training and helps in getting cafe work.

    Tomorrowland 2014 during HSC Year?

Yeah, I don't have doubts you'll still be able to perform well if you are organised/dedicated. I mean if you've had no/little absences they can't really stop you missing school-the only thing they may get you on is missing school days directly before a task (if trials literally start on the...

    Tomorrowland 2014 during HSC Year?

I was away for three weeks in Africa before my trials so it is possible (I did pretty well in my trials even with the time away with no work cause I worked very hard on return and did lots of ground work before I left), but I'm not sure if your school would be happy with the music festival...

    First job at 18 y.o?

Sometimes you'll have more luck at non chain businesses. Most chains (esp. fast food) want them as young as you can get, but some smaller business prefer you to be 17-18 at least, especially if it's a place that works later nights/is more upmarket. It's hardest to get the first rung on the...

    HSC Journal #13097

Lol 9 days behind, when I was away in holidays I did no schoolwork and that was for 5 weeks over the year. You'll manage a lot more back in the country and also with that adrenaline once school is closer! I believeeeeee!

    What happens on enrolement day?

Haha nice. I expected Speech Path would be pretty light on electives/choice like many health science courses. Good advice/google madharris.

    Driver Knowledge Test

The main type of questions on it are just tapping the screen when you'd brake (looking out for pedestrians and stuff like that) and tapping when you'd turn right (be conservative, don't feel you have to tap the screen it's sometimes safer not to). Really straight forward and you get like two...

99+ ATAR: Experienced and enthusiastic high school maths tutor

Have to recommend this guy, could help me with first year uni maths with as much ease as he was eating cornflakes. Super massive thumbs up! If I was in the HSC, I'd want him to teach me maths.

    Driver Knowledge Test

Easiest test I took in my life...4 mins for 100%. It's identical to the practice online one. HPT is also ridiculously easy, it's just tapping a screen. Haven't had to do the DQT yet, but apparently it's a mix of HPT/DKT. Doing the driving test is defs the hardest cause it actually requires...

    What happens on enrolement day?

Yeah you do put in your units for both sems that day, but don't stress cause once you are enrolled you can easily change them on MyAdmin. I just recall some minor lines and filling in some paperwork (like HECs and enrolment/subject selection form), with people on hand to answer UOS questions...

Have the Merit Scholarships been completely finalised?

Yes, and then it shuffles up because some entries-->merit and some waiting list-->entry.

    Student "polarized" politics

You'll find that in student politics, each group is fiercely what they are. The SA will be extreme, the greens extreme, the Liberals extreme...the people are just really, really passionate and many use it as a stepping stone for rising in parties. There's normally a decent sized group really...
