What is genuinely considered a good raw mark?

Yeah that's what I'm realising too. The hard questions is 95% mindset; I was so tilted in the trials I just gave up for ten minutes. Looks like the examiners give you a shit ton of clues for most of the last questions.

What is genuinely considered a good raw mark?

I got a 79 on the CSSA MX2 trial. What's a good raw mark (like no bs like genuinely)

Any Excel-like HSC past papers for EX2?

Or any papers which specifically omit the non-syllabus questions?

What is the hardest Maths Extension 2 topic?

proofs 10000000000000000000000000000%. the breadth of the questions they can give you is insane. mechanics is really not too bad if you do physics. in fact, i find mechanics the easiest topic so far.

For Eliot's poems in MOD B, is it two poems in an essay always the minimum?

Against some people's opinions, I would recommend doing 2 poems. There's a lot to unpack in Eliot's poetry, and it looks better to do depth than breadth. But that's just my opinion...

how to prepare for year 11?

Yeah, Year 11 shouldn't be taken seriously except for maths and sciences. seriously, this is your last few terms before you lose your braincells trying to study. I had lots of fun in year 11, and I don't regret my marks, because I don't think I'd be mentally sane enough to ace year 12.

How to prepare for year 12

English = essays, essays, essay, Maths EXT 1 = revise your combs, and keep your probability on point. functions too. combs appear the most in hsc, and can be mixed with integration and differentiation for difficult questions. Maths ADV = papers, papers, papers. Maths Advanced is stupid easy as...

How many past papers are you doing per day?

2 - 3 usually. Sometimes one if I'm feeling like having a bit of a rest... English is usually the hardest to get done tbh. So boring.

Sample answers for the math papers

definitely, especially for ext 2. an easy example could be proving the arithmetic mean stuff x^2 + y^2\geq2xy \newline \text{This can be proven two ways; usually in exams you see} \newline \text{the use of arithmetic and geometric mean: } \frac{x+y}{2}\geq\sqrt{xy} \newline \text{However; it...

    motivation

yeah, 1-2 past papers is definitely doable, and what i'm doing right now. ideally, you should be doing papers at less than the time actually available, so that you have breathing room incase you get a killer exam. study periods + from 5-9:30; i usually have about 5-6 hours of available study...

    Hints on getting encore?

Hello to the possibly the deadest forum on BOS, I heard that if the markers are taking a while to call in the next student, it usually either means theres a discrepancy between the marks, or that they're considering you for an encore nom. Anyone know anything about that? Cheers

    motivation

Hard to say. I took a 2 week break after trials, because I felt burnt out. Seems like you are very, very burnt out. You have two options, and you need to think it through: 1. Start now, and hustle through the burn out. You will feel the pain, but if you really need the 99.90+, then this may...

    Getting a 99+ with 2 units of music 1

Not entirely sure. I attended the UNSW Co-op lecture at open day and I've also searched around; but it seems pretty un-common as the work-load is pretty high in itself.

    Getting a 99+ with 2 units of music 1

Yeah, I meant either CS or SE. For double degrees; you'd have to ask your sponsor if you got in. It is possible, and I'd assume if you decided to do CS and lets say, Actuarial Studies; then it would be fair for the company to want you to have that further knowledge... but I guess that all...

    Getting a 99+ with 2 units of music 1

I want to do UNSW Co-op comp sci/software engineering (which is minimum 96); but if I don't get that (and let's be honest, Co-op is very hard to get into), I want to do maybe Actuarial Studies/Computer Science (which I believe is a 98 selection rank). I don't want to get 99 to become a lawyer...

    Getting a 99+ with 2 units of music 1

fellow bos'ers; my decision to choose music 1 haunts me to this day. My school is ranked in the low 100's. after trials I am ranked tied first with an average of ~ 96-97% in music. (4-3 students get a band 6 in a class of 8ish) For English, I ranked first overall after trials with a trial mark...
