    Advanced Math Year 11 2018

Just my 2c opinion, if you’re really struggling that much with 2u, drop to general. Better to top genny than to be average in 2u. It will help your atar a lot. Countless people at my school have done so, which had helped them significantly. Also keep in mind that it depends on what you want to...

    ATAR Estimate Please...

That’s okay. In that case, keep up those ranks and your atar will be determined purely by how you go in externals (hsc exams) (as BenHowe mentioned) whilst not being affected by others. Do well and easily get 95+, or not so well and get <90.

    ATAR Estimate Please...

let's have some band 6 stats per sub last year. I believe it would be over 95 if those ranks continued to end of year 12..

Lol yeah usually it’s only like 81-83 raw needed for a band 6 cut off for them but that may change depending on the difficulty of the exam next year.

Help with ATAR and dropping subjects

Your question is pretty difficult to answer. Define average-high results? You should probably look at your preferred uni/course atar requirement and work towards that. Since you want to do engineering, I wouldn’t recommend dropping maths ext 1, but just working harder in it as it will help in uni.

Didn’t do those subs and therefore not an expert at it but I would say 95-96/100 raw would be the marks to start being considered for a state rank. Generally goes - top 20 places for Legal and top 10 places for S&C in the state to be awarded. Also, atleast 94 raw for 97 scaled is needed.

    Atar estimate please :-)

90-92 give or take. Just improve on maths.

    Question about atar exam results

lol what, technically both. Your moderated hsc mark will depend upon how you went relative to your cohort in your subs (your rank) externally (in the hsc exam) which will be influenced by your internal rank.
  17. captainneuro

How will my atar get affected?

The person ranked first internally (your classmate) takes the highest external mark, if he got a higher external than you, he will therefore take his own external mark. Don't worry about it too much, its mx1, should do you wonders regardless if there's been a minimal difference between you 2.

    scaling

Yes you could have done terrible in year 11 and it wouldn’t affect your atar as all marks/ranks of students reset after the end of year 11. Before year 12 starts, everyone is on an equal scale (line). Not one person is higher than the other ranks wise. Then when year 12 starts, that’s when...

    scaling

No, only year 12 counts. Nothing from year 11 (in terms of results/marks/ranks wise) count towards your HSC marks or atar.
