    BSci or BMedSci as undergrad?

You can kill two birds with one stone if you do science as you will have some idea of the science behind medicine as well as having a head start when it comes to preparing for the science component of the GAMSAT. Your question is whether a science or medical science degree will give you a better...

    New years resolutions

I did no study in year 10 :-( good on you for starting good habits (or rather, endeavouring to) early but I guess you gotta do what you gotta do to get into med! Good luck!

    New years resolutions

I always wanted to do grassroots medicine but those fees that you have to fund the trip can get ridiculous.

    New years resolutions

Lolol I completely lost it when I read this even though I have no idea what you are talking about

    New years resolutions

Lol I actually do! But I think I should make a conscious effort to hear them out if they want to talk about their problems as opposed to thinking that whatever comes out of their mouth is incredibly annoying :D

    Rural entry for medicine

Does the 96 minimum ATAR not extend to rural applicants as well?

    New years resolutions

My 2014 NYR were: 1. run 10k non-stop by the end of the year (I don't run at all and I have not consciously exercised in 2013) 2. limit social media to 1 hr max each day 3. read 60 books 4. get an HD average at uni 5. keep in contact at least once per week with my close family/friends living...

    New years resolutions

Haha you know you're doing New Years resolutions right when all you have to do to make the next one is transfer the last years'! But that #4 is going to be a regular feature from now on unfortunately :-(

    New years resolutions

How was Love in the Time of Cholera? I got that on my reading list. Also if you enjoyed reading Of Mice and Men, maybe give the movie (the 1992 version) a go. I watched it when I was very young and to this day it's still a tear-jerker! Well done on the placement offer!! Such a precocious child...

    UNSW Info day!

Yea I've noticed that with open days too... Some strange collusion happening here... Idk I could never rock up to uni, listen to an academic or current student give an impassioned talk on why I should go to their uni and make a spontaneous move to enrol on the spot. I need a year at least to...

    UNSW Info day!

Yea you can but most people don't because they're banking on a main round offer and with changes for a late round offer, you would be risking losing your initial offer? So I do think that the info day is targeted specifically for the main round. Idk for me info day is to stock up on more nice...

    Your Favourite TED Talks

Thanks for creating this thread! Probably one of my favourites! As I have an interest in science, I thought I'd include this one of how the composition of the microbes in your gut can determine which diseases you get. This has been implicated in things such as autism, obesity and even...

    UNSW Info day!

I'm always so skeptical on the placement of UNSW's open day, being the day before UAC preferences close. Does the uni really expect students to make last minute decisions on something that is relatively important??

    Timetable for undergraduate 2015

You probably have to click and check box somewhere in the form and provide your tax file number. Here's a handy site for you: http://www.gettingstarted.unsw.edu.au/accept-or-defer-your-offer

    Timetable for undergraduate 2015

I'm pretty certain that once you get your offer, accept it, you are redirected to the myUNSW website where you can enrol into your classes (right after you go through the tedious task of filling out personal detail forms so it's important to have all your details ready as the site often crashes...

Do I have a chance of getting an offer???

You could do an internal program transfer within UNSW say you wanted to combine law with commerce, you can put commerce as your UAC preferences and after a minimum of a year of commerce, you can apply for transfer to combine it with law so that you've already done some compulsory subjects.

    medical science cohort sizee???

    I started in 2013 and I think it's something like 180-200.

chances of making it to med

How about the UNSW medical science pathway? If you aren't given any offers and you are still passionate about pursuing medicine, I think that it's the next best thing to get you there.

cut-off and uni offers HELP!!! plzzz

    1. The cut-offs vary year to year depending on demand but if your ATAR is above the cut-off score for 2015, you should get an offer. 2. You do but I don't see why you would need them if you have already made the cut-off. Bonus points are there to help you get into the university degree that you...
