    How do i do these?

Yes, it’s the same question. The ionic species are in dissolved in the aqueous solution and the solid state of each metal is uncharged.

    Mod 6 Question

    The equation to calculate the force between two parallel conductors is: F / l = μ I1 I2 / 2πr or by rearrangement F = l μ I1 I2 / 2πr = 3f F/ l is the force per unit length between two parallel conductors, I1 and I2 are the currents through each wire, μ and π are constants and r is the...

    UCAT?

As most students know, it’s not just medical students who sit these UCAT exams but also those applying for dentistry and some of the other allied health degrees. What is less well known is that, because there’s no restriction on who sits these exams, there are a whole lot of other people sitting...

    electromagnetism questno

This is a link to a web page which explains this very well: https://mammothmemory.net/physics/magnets-and-electromagnetism/electromagnetism/drop-a-magnet-through-a-solenoid.html Nothing further to add to the web page’s explanation.

    UCAT?

I’m not suggesting no preparation effort should be made (my eldest went through the three practice papers that were made available by the UMAT organisers so that she knew what to expect), but several years of extensive coaching shouldn’t be required for what is intended to be an aptitude test.

    UCAT?

The number doesn’t really make all that much difference - all the students in the top schools have already been sitting it for the past two decades. Now there are more selective & independent schools and everyone in these schools also sit it, but the top thousand students are the ‘real...

    UCAT?

    UCAT?

No doubt many students benefit from greater preparation, but actually these questions are intended to select for students with natural abilities in deductive reasoning and inference such that the school curriculum should provide a sufficient foundation for the UCAT. In a recent thread on...

    UCAT?

The large majority of selective school students and top private school students were already sitting it in 2015, so I don’t see how the competition could have increased significantly.

    Q

Whilst it is hard to read the graph because there are no labelled markers on the time axis and the ‘5.0’ and ‘10.0’ are in such big lettering (to me it actually looks closer to 4 cycles in 10 milliseconds), nevertheless, only option A is anywhere close in magnitude to the correct frequency...

    UCAT?

There were about 4000 students who sat for UMAT in 2015. I don’t think the candidature has changed all that much in eight years. My daughter was one of only two students from her school, so her English teacher (who had previously taught at JRAHS) joked with her that when she taught at JRAHS, on...

    UCAT?

OP has already made up his mind not to pursue medicine, so this is academic, but, the original point of UMAT/UCAT was to assess aptitude for a career in medicine, so it was supposed to be something you should do on the side. My eldest wasn’t really sure she should do medicine and I wasn’t keen...

Does your school's performance of the subject affect your mark?

The question of whether a student’s school cohort’s performance affects the student’s assessment mark has been asked many times (https://boredofstudies.org/threads/how-do-rankings-of-schools-affect-your-hsc-mark.182899/page-4...

How are you spending your break?

There’s likely to be a question at the end of the MEx2 paper which discriminates the top students for state ranks, but it’s possible to score adequately high marks without spending excessive time trying to achieve this, when marks can be gained in other subjects using this part of your time budget.

Choosing subjects in year 10 for year 11

I count only 11 units if you are only doing one of the two options of economics or legal studies. I understand that 13 units is the minimum required for Yr 11, so you might have to consider what other subject you might be interested to take. You can drop units at the end of Yr 11.

is atar influenced by the performance of your school?

From what I’ve observed at our school which is usually ranked 300-400, ATAR is never affected by anyone else’s performance if you are ranked first in a subject and also perform best in your school cohort at the HSC exam for that subject. Otherwise, if assessments are very accurate (eg. teacher’s...

How are you spending your break?

Oh, oops sorry, new curriculum started even earlier in 2019 for Yr 11, with 2019 HSC maths paper being the last year of the old curriculum. I got confused because this thread discussion centred around 2020 vs 2021 (& I forgot how long ago DS sat his first HSC exam).
  18. Eagle Mum

How are you spending your break?

Course are over two years (preliminary HSC & HSC), so the new curriculum actually came into effect for Yr 11 students in 2019, whilst the first HSC exam with new curriculum materials was in 2020. In general, NESA would say that the new curriculum started in 2019 because it started for Yr 11...

    How do i solve this

Please note that my post was made in response to another post, to correct a misinterpretation of the decreasing slope. Up until saturation is approached, if you examine the coordinates along the curve, it does approximate a negative logarithmic curve, so on reflection, I think my post was...

    Can I get into Extension

It’s really strange to me that selective schools cap the number of places in extension maths classes, particularly at such low numbers. Our local nonselective high school encourages anyone who wants to do extension maths to do so (not that most students would want to).
