I admit Q12 was quite difficult. However, I think Q14 is very reasonable. Q14 (a) (i) can be done in two or three lines at most, with very little calculations (mostly explaining). Q14 (a) (ii) is a little more difficult but it is implied that you simplify part (i) and take the sum of the...

Perhaps saying "Hence, or otherwise", would have been preferable. This will find what the roots eventually become, but how would you then describe the behaviour of the roots as k varies? Part of the idea of the question was to get students to picture an 'animation' of what would happen to the...

For (c) (ii), sketch y=(x^2-1)/(x^2+1) and y=kx+1, and you can see no matter what K value you pick (other than k=0, which cannot be the case anyway) you will always have exactly one point of intersection. In other words always one real root. From this, you can also see that when K is large, the...

To add to this, Trebla writes most of the MC usually. I modify and replace some of them only for whatever reason I see fit. ie: Q2 and 4 of MX2 MC was mine. The rest was pretty much Trebla's.

A bit more than a week from now. When x approaches negative infinity, y can approach zero. Since the curve is symmetric in y=-x, we can immediately deduce that the y axis is an asymptote.

It is toe-ing the syllabus line, but I think it is very well within the bounds of Extension 1 knowledge-wise, as no 'extra theory' is required to do the problem. It is simply a more difficult deduction that needs to be made.

The question was to prove that the formula for the volume of a right pyramidal structure holds so long as you have the area of the base. In other words, the shape doesn't matter, which is why I made it irregular. Also, I will be uploading the paper tomorrow.

All members who have messaged me prior to today have been accepted. I've received your messages and have already assigned you numbers. The number of those who dropped out last minute perfectly balances out those who registered after my original cut-off date.
