    Rounding in the HSC

Usually for Maths they make it very clear in the question what sort of rounding they want, otherwise the default is always exact values.

BoS trials Maths and Chemistry 2021

We will aim to upload the papers shortly after the exam day is done. Solutions won't come until after we have completed marking. However, that doesn't stop you from asking for help on specific questions from the papers in this thread.

Just to give further background on the copyright issue. We have been approached by one of these organisations in the past (I won’t disclose who for confidentiality reasons) who threatened legal action for posting copyrighted material without their permission. So please take care when it comes to...

    question about strong induction

Possibly, with that level of hand-holding. It would still be highly unlikely to appear in a HSC exam though. Even in the old syllabus where strong induction was assessable, such questions were still quite rare in the HSC exams.

BoS trials Maths and Chemistry 2021

Sick of doing the same repetitive questions and want some good practice for the harder questions in the HSC exams? Want to do a practice paper under simulated exam conditions in preparation for your HSC? Know someone at school who is a gun at HSC maths and/or HSC chemistry? It is that time of...

    king's property

If something is not explicitly called out in the syllabus, then obviously it is not assumed knowledge.

    question about strong induction

I am not sure that strong induction is actually in the syllabus anymore. I cannot see any explicit reference to it. Given it is a slightly conceptually different approach to normal induction, if a question does appear that requires it (highly unlikely), you will have to be hand-held in the steps.

    Rates 2U- 2005 HSC

Given that \dfrac{dV}{dt}=-120\left(1-\dfrac{t}{60}\right) The question is asking what is largest magnitude of dV/dt. If you graph dV/dt against t, you will see it is a linear function (i.e. not a curve with any turning points). Therefore, the largest magnitude of dV/dt occurs at t=0.

    Do school rankings matter????

No. School ranking in the state is never used in your ATAR calculation. There is no such thing as an “official school ranking”. Such rankings (e.g. by band 6s) are produced by the media and are never used in any official capacity.

    school

So are people actually coming back (or required to come back) to class in Term 4 or is it all study vacation until next month’s HSC exams? Or is it more up to the school to make that call?

    Vectors

You would most likely be asked to prove it first in an exam.

    NSW Premier resignation

ICAC never said Gladys was guilty of anything. They are just investigating to seek more evidence. The alternative is to not investigate her at all, which would mean ICAC is not doing its job. It was not ICAC who removed the premier, it was her conscious choice to resign. She went one further by...

    Need helps pls

When you square root the y-values, this has no real impact on a vertical line because it has the form x = constant (i.e. independent of y).

    statistics math

Whilst it is true that P(Z > 2/3) = 1 - P(Z < 2/3) It is completely useless to solve the question, because you cannot directly solve for b. An analogous problem would be if x² = 1 - y² You can't then claim that x = y.

    statistics math

    P(X > 8) = P((X-6)/3 > 2/3)) = P(Z > 2/3) Note that we cannot say b = 2/3 because P(Z > b) is not equal to P(Z < b). Therefore, to get P(Z < b) we use the symmetry of the standard normal distribution which tells us that P(Z > 2/3) = P(Z < -2/3) Hence b = -2/3.
