Honestly I agree that it's so hard to know what you want to study because I started actuarial studies in 2018, then in 2019 I thought I didn't like it since I literally had zero motivation so I changed to data science. However when I enrolled in the 3rd trimester and still I had no motivation I...
Yea as said above any combination is good. I liked science/maths so I did biology physics 4u and adv english even though bio + phys is a weird combination in some people's eyes - but I liked biology so I did well in it. Just pick what your interests are! Personally I still think a bit of the...
In HSC I only studied in home but my bad habits led to sleeping late a looooot of times so I was tired most of the time... These days I try to study at WSU (the one near parra station) or at uni when I can but I still study at home sometimes with a lot of distractions.
Honestly I struggle greatly with studying at home, even during HSC (2017) and I still have the problem today... PC games/youtube and nintendo switch and phone are all too easily accessed
EDIT: I remember Cold Turkey being a decent computer app to block stuff. Studying through facetime MIGHT be...
Yep as others said working is definitely manageable. If you're really scared of travelling late at night then you could watch the lecture online. Usually travelling around 7-9 pm isn't that bad as there's still a lot of people on the train but it's probably more dangerous for girls in reality...
Well memorising essays wasn’t working for me so obviously I wasn’t gonna try it again, and my feedback was to answer the question more consistently. So I memorised quotes instead and adapted on the day and it worked so I continued with that! Evaluating how you went after each assessment is very...
Biology:
Did good all year, trials I got mid-high 80s usually then HSC I think I got around 94 raw probably.
Physics:
Did good all year thanks to tutoring and studying hard for it, trials was probably around 80s again but HSC was around 90 raw probably or 89.
English Adv:
Started badly, was...
Tbh most subjects require a lot of work and memorising but it just depends how you study and if it’s effective etc. People always say bio has the most memorising but I enjoyed it so it felt like physics had the most memorising for me...
Nope not really, you can just pick whichever subjects you...
I thought for a while as well and tried a few things but can’t do it either. I found that you either need the radius of Earth’s orbit or the mass of the sun (both of which can lead to each other).
Well I really don’t like humanities because I liked science/maths stuff more and also our chem teacher was incompetent so I just went with bio and phys and ended up enjoying biology a lot bc I was interested in medicine and physics was decent but a lot of memorising.
The year I got in had quite a few people lower than the cutoff but I think last year - 2019 - had a smaller cohort so they might have been stricter. Also I think MQ does direct offers where if you do really good in maths and (i’m assuming decent in english) you get an offer without using your atar
Yr 11 I did biology, physics, english adv, studies of religion 1 (accelerated), 2u maths (accelerated), chem (dropped to SDD and dropped SDD year 12).
Year 12 I did bio, phys, 3u maths, 4u maths, eng adv.
Edit: Yea I do actuarial studies at mq
I think he does teach chemistry. Haven’t been there since 2017 but I’m fairly sure you have to get in early now since everyone has realised his great tutoring skills, and trust me when I say this - the quality you get is extremely exceptional for the cheap price compared to some tutors who (for...
Defs 3 or 4u maths, I’d recommend 4u (ext 2) if you are capable. Economics might be slightly useful for actuarial since you do micro and macroeconomics first year, and as jazz said physics for electrical engineering. However you learn it all in uni anyway, e.g they taught us complex numbers in...
Probably mid 80s but as others have said, year 12 is completely different. The content changes which already changes people's strengths and weaknesses and if they enjoy it etc, but also people change study habits + try more in general. Try to reflect on your results in year 11, what worked, what...
This is late but definitely agree with this statement. Really haven't seen any competitiveness from anyone at uni. Most people are just helping each other do their best and studying together to do well. Unless someone's a snake then most people are friendly and help each other. Ranks don't...
I only asked biology teacher to mark some answers sometimes (not entire papers, just stuff I needed feedback on). Other stuff like maths and physics I could just use online answers. For bio (sometimes phys??) I just marked using online guidelines and swapped papers with my friend which was ultra...
