Need help for subject selection (year 11)

Yeah it's correlated in a way I guess, since you need high problem solving skills for actuarial which you need for ext 2 maths as well. There are a few people that didn't do maths ext 2 in my cohort though. Yeah I definitely recommend maths ext 2... I was struggling so hard with it in the...

Hello Forum, I would like to know the difficulty of attaining Band 6's for such list of subjects.

The syllabus changed a little bit but personally found year 12 physics the most interesting - no more stuff about like circuits etc and more interesting stuff like relativity and I don't even remember what else. I had tutoring for physics which definitely helped, but I still think a band 6 was...

Study Tips for Remote Study/Self Isolation

I know this is overused but ATAR is literally just used to get into your course and nothing else (except for tutoring). Still worth it to try your hardest though :) Wth goals, being bored enough to write notes LOL

    Should I appeal my mark?

Yeah honestly english teachers will try and nitpick at anything in your writing to justify the lost marks so it's not worth a bother unless you're genuinely just looking for feedback

    Should I appeal my mark?

Hmm if you really wanna appeal I'd recommend asking for feedback/improvements and if the feedback sounds unreasonable as to why you lost the marks then you can appeal but overall you still received good marks :). I guess the reflective part sort of had feedback but the imaginative writing you...

    HOW DO YOU IMPROVE CHEMISTRY!!!

Yea honestly one of the best tips is to ask people questions. Not only does it help you but it helps them consolidate their knowledge by explaining it to you. I still remember doing biology and spamming the group chat with questions for any detail I was unsure about. Good luck!

Will doing bad on my internals affect my overall HSC

Yeah basically the mark itself doesn’t matter it’s the rank. If it was the mark then schools would set exams that the entire cohort gets 100 in. So yeah focus on the rank! And on that note 20% or 45% of your assessment weighting done isn’t the end of the story, there’s still time to climb higher...

Possible to balance work & uni?

Tbh I can see why, (usually Asian) some parents wouldn’t support it since they’d want their children to get as high marks as possible (in high school) but in uni yea I think supporting the job search is really important.

    Coronavirus University

Most likely rest of semester unless your uni says something. I think the 1 day a week is not for unis (just a guess idk) but I'm hoping uni stays online haha, can't be bothered travelling tbh.

    Selective schools debate

Ah yeah that makes sense I did hear people being selfish/snaking others from selective schools during high school and I was kinda surprised since my school (catholic school) was pretty collaborative. I guess yeah internal rankings are more competitive for you so it makes sense that some people...

What course in which uni do most Ruse graduates go to?

Nope literally no impact besides selective schools having more pressure to do well. My friend went to a rank 300+ school and still got 99.75. Just up to you to decide your atar :)

    Selective schools debate

Yeah true I always wondered what it woulda been like to go to a selective school, but my cohort was amazing like everyone worked together 24/7 and the amount of collaboration was so good so defs no regrets!! Also yea HAHA i woke up at midnight and was finding any way to procrastinate from...

Is Standard English really an Atar killer and should i do advance instead?

Yeah as others have said the band 6 rate is lower in standard mostly because of less "skilled english students" doing it and probably lower aligning as well. At the start of year 12 I got like really bad in my speech that weighed a lot and average in the half yearly exam so I was nearly last...

    Selective schools debate

Yeah tbh private schools do cost a lot and I'm not even sure if it's worth it but I definitely don't regret going to my school over a selective one (didn't do the selective test so idk) because the teachers were good. From what I've heard, selective school teachers aren't like the best but...

    The Anime Thread

Just finished my hero academia (fav anime) and of course it doesn't disappoint, especially with the movie it was amazing. Gotta finish off seven deadly sins when I'm bothered, this season was a bit boring so far. Gonna start fire force and darwin's game soon! Been watching kdramas xD

    Online Classes

Honestly wonder how people with bad wifi are attending Zoom classes. Or some unis are doing exams via webcam or zoom etc, how are people with bad wifi meant to survive? Anyway online classes are fun, I have 1 per week because the other classes decided just to pre-record and upload (thankfully)...

How to effectively use reading time to do well in exams

Great post! Just wanted to add something on for english. I'm not 100% sure what the structure of the english HSC exam is now but if there are still unseen texts to read, those could be good to read during exam time. If not then read the essay questions and I guess plan how you can adapt your...
