    HSC Marks Thread 2019

Yeah of course. I got 95 with tutoring so I can't really say what mark I would've gotten without tutoring, but I'd guess around 90ish. In my opinion learning the content well and understanding it is much more important for physics (for old syllabus). I've heard that the new syllabus has more...

    HSC Marks Thread 2019

Yeah we can do that - good suggestion. I was going to make an atar thread and stuff after the hsc marks come out but your idea is pretty good :)

    HSC Marks Thread 2019

Hey people! I think that marks are coming out on the 16th so that's really soon - so I'm making this thread so you can give PREDICTIONS about your HSC marks and/or your ACTUAL marks after they come out. Good luck and I hope you all achieve your goals and get into your desired uni courses :)...

ATAR Prediction (based off prelim results) + Help with Subject Concerns

Hi! Instead of just spamming out past papers and checking the solutions I tried to improve after each paper. So after a few papers it should be clear what your weaknesses are and for me it was mainly time (which was improved by doing more papers) but also doing the hard questions. Instead of...

ATAR Prediction (based off prelim results) + Help with Subject Concerns

Just wanna give you some motivation that I didn’t get tutoring for maths ext 2 and in the first semester I was struggling hard with complex numbers and graphs. I was ready to give up honestly I thought this 2 unit subject wouldn’t be worth the time but it is. Firstly it’s really hard so it...

Going over word limit in English?

Yeah they’ll probably count the average number of words in one line and multiply by the number of lines so it’s possibly risky either way tbh. Best bet is to cut some words out. More words doesn’t equal better which was what I thought initially. I recall my essays being like 700-800 words...

    Thoughts on maths 3u/4u textbook

When I did 4u in 2017 I did have a few textbooks like fitzpatrick, terry lee, patel, etc, but I only found them useful for learning the content. Once I did some questions to learn the content I just did papers which actually helped 100x more than textbook questions which imo should just be done...

    How does Uni work?

Don’t worry about learning slowly that’s me too! I can’t understand things until I do questions to practice it. Independent learning is really useful for uni imo since it’s more self guided than in high school. And honestly learning slow is fine, in my opinion the uni workload is less than high...

    Are atar calculators reliable?

Well I didn't mean to say it was low, I mean the lower you go down from 99.95 of course. Any atar is good as long as you put your best effort in :)

University Choice Help! - Comm/Compsci UNSW vs IT/Actuarial MacQ

From what you said I think computer science/commerce will be the best choice since it covers your interests of computers, maths and business pretty well. Personally I did actuarial studies and science (major in stats) at mq for a year then decided to change out as it wasn't really fun. A lot of...

I dont know how to study properly

Just don't think you're competing with 80,000 others. In reality you're competing against yourself - can you achieve the best possible mark that you can get? IMO after every assessment/exam you should reflect on what worked, what didn't work, then evaluate your study methods for next time. For...

    Are atar calculators reliable?

I think for 2017 hsc matrix was pretty accurate, it said 99.75 and I got that, whereas talent 100 said 99.9. They should give you a rough estimate but I think the lower the atar goes the less accurate it will be (e.g. could say 91 but you get 90) so just make sure you keep trying hard and not...

Is it possible to complete a preliminary and an hsc course in 1 year?

Yeah better to ask your school. To answer your question it is possible since my school did 3u maths prelim and HSC all in 3 terms.

Hi everyone, sorry I'm not really tutoring at the moment because I'm busy with work and uni but if you do need help with maths or studying in general feel free to ask!

    2019ers Chit-Chat Thread

Good luck with HSC people :) remember that if you did bad in trials it's not entirely a bad thing - they're meant to be practice for the HSC for a reason - just reflect on why you did bad and adjust your studying methods and work on your weaknesses. If you did good, also reflect on what worked...

    textbooks Used for 4 unit

Idk if they still work for the new syllabus but most of the new topics are the same still, but we used Terry lee (decent/good). Cambridge is good but from what I remember it has some reaaally hard questions if you want to practice that.

I want to change from legal to biology, I'm in mid-term 2, year 11

Hi! I really liked learning bio in year 12 but year 11 bio was really boring. Imo barely of the year 11 content was in the year 12 course but I don't fully remember (2 years ago) but I'm pretty sure they're like separate courses - with year 11 focusing on plants and stuff while year 12 focused a...
