Nope, all that matters is the WAM. You can go to UWS and study Arts and get the medal and then make the USyd JD (in theory).

Well done on your ATAR! Coming in the top 1.6% of the state is no easy feat! IMO, If you want to study law at USyd, then go with USyd Arts, because its' MUCH easier to get a high WAM in an Arts degree at USyd than it is with a law degree at UTS, thus making it easier to transfer to Usyd law.

My friend was in a similar boat to you. He had a 98.40 ATAR, and studied BComm in 2012. He recieved a 80.35 WAM, and managed a transfer. Achieving those marks in commerce is difficult and takes hard work - probably more or less, the same amount of commitment you underwent to achieve your high...
