    Going into Year 11? - some advice from a 2014 HSC'er

Don't forget to enjoy year 11!! Year 11 has honestly been one of the best years for me (in both an academic and non-academic sense). Definitely do as many co-curriculars while you can and keep your eye out for potential scholarships, information days, etc!! ALSO, use any free periods as...

Thanks guys! Hopefully I'll redeem myself when the next round of assessments come around ^^ Exactly this! Actually, I think our school realised this (there were like 2 tied firsts in Prelim MX1) and made the exam a lot longer and harder this time round.

Is it alright to do 10 units ?

That's actually why I dropped chem despite getting a decent rank in the subject. If you like the subject, then you should have no issues with studying at it at home. However, if you don't like it that much, then I'd consider dropping it. And a backup subject is somewhat useless if it ends up...

omg, ikr. It's so deep and philosophical and urgh. Why do we even have to do Advanced English T_T omg HAHAHAHAHAHA, that is so true. This is why I both like and hate English. Exams are next week T___T I can't remember anything. So. Much. Content. In. Eco. Dying. How are your exams? :( Dude...

Same. T_T Ext eng >>>>> Adv English any day. Especially belonging. :( It's stupid, because they want us to write decent creatives about something as cringy and clichéd as that. Wow, but still! Though I'm really jelly of those people. There are a few people who don't do maths and only have 3...

    Year 10 vs Year 11

The jump from year 10 to year 11 is big, but the jump from year 11 to year 12 is bigger still. Everyone starts to knuckle down in year 11 and 12, so it's often a lot more difficult to maintain ranks and do well. There's also a lot more work involved in most subjects, you'll have to work a lot...

Same. T_T I blame English and Maths omg (esp Adv English. There are so many modules, like why, just why). And how?!?! Every sub takes so much time D: Wow, wth, they must be super organised... But why?! 3 of those units won't even count D: probs school in general T_T but omg, i think i'd rather...

Kinda >_> Stupidly took 13 units for like 6 weeks and had no time to do anything. What a massive waste of time. And no frees. T_T That's even worse D: Though why are they so spread out??? Can't even enjoy week 10 :( Yes, I'm so happy yay. :'D Same hahaha, but doesn't matter, because it won't...

IT'S GREAT TO BE BACK :') though probs not the best time hahahaha. That's good! And kinda bad at the same time... Omg, does that mean that your assessments end in week 10 or something?! They're alrightish... Though no more science. Just :') How has everything been for you?? And good luck to...

    Studying during the term?

None of my subjects have assignments (thank god), so I make notes and write essays + creatives throughout the term.

Jump from year 10 to year 11

^ No, that is untrue. English has remained the same in terms of difficulty.

Queries about which subject to drop!

I am currently doing 13 units for the HSC and would like to drop a subject. Do you think it would be wiser for me to drop Chemistry (in which I am ranked 8th out of ~88 students) or English Extension (in which I am ranked 2nd out of 70ish students)? Thank you in advance!
