    Probability

Yeah, I subbed in the wrong value at first and got something like 0.9 chance. I would hate to get this question in a test though, kept on getting math errors on my calculator because of the permutations :P.

    Simple Motor Question

Yeah, to calculate the torque on the coil you use the angle between the magnetic field and the PLANE of the coil (in this case; 40 degrees). As a result, torque is constantly changing. To calculate force, however, you use the angle between the CURRENT and the magnetic field (in...

    Probability

I have a feeling this is completely wrong and illegitimate, but anyway. Set a date in a year for one birthday. Probability of everyone NOT sharing that birthday = (364/365)^22 Now, this event repeats 22 more times (setting each person). = ((364/365)^22)23 = 0.22495..... Therefore conjugate...

    ATAR estimate

@OP, weren't you the person that made the thread about losing your ranks? :P
  5. S

Will this be bad for my Atar?

Economics actually scales better than sciences, so if you're good at Eco and hate sciences it will be very beneficial.

    Simple Motor Question

You could claim that your 9's look like 4's, and you typed it into the calculator wrong, but yeah, it's 90 degrees as spiral said.

    2007 Abbotsleigh Q8

For part i - did you just integrate the area using the equation of the graph, then state that the rectangles would be less than that?

HSC 2012-14 MX2 Integration Marathon (archive)

    Re: MX2 Integration Marathon Now find \int \frac{e^{2x}}{e^{x} +1}

HSC 2012-14 MX2 Integration Marathon (archive)

    Re: MX2 Integration Marathon let u = x^-1 du = -x^-2dx = -1/x^2 dx = -\int {sin^{5}(u) cos(u)du = -sin^{6}{u}/6 *-1= sin^{6}{1/x}/6 + C

    Hsc ranks!!

The mark range changes based on how they go externally. For example, if the new mark range is 90 to 80, they will all get a moderated mark from 80 to 90 (highest ranking gets 90, lowest gets 50). Those who are ranked in between get assigned marks based on the relative gaps of their ranks. @OP...

Can someone pls help me with this question?

    i) m = deltax/deltay = dy/dx. If you refer to the graph, you will see that as -y/x, using pythagoras, y = root(L^2 - x^2), sub it in ii) dy/dt = 3 dx/dt = dy/dt * dx/dy dx/dy = -x/root(L^2-x^2) Sub in and you will get root 3

    eddy currents.

What you put in bold does make sense though, guess I learnt it wrong. Will have to go over eddy currents again I guess
  13. S

    eddy currents.

    They still flower, just weaker.

HSC 2012-14 MX2 Integration Marathon (archive)

Re: MX2 Integration Marathon I think I see now - the x just becomes a constant (or whatever value is in it)?

HSC 2012-14 MX2 Integration Marathon (archive)

    Re: MX2 Integration Marathon Edit: ucos(x^2) + c?

Can anyone do extension 2 Mathematics?

Can anyone do extension 2? Yes Should anyone do extension 2? Probably not. While it's possible it wont hurt other subjects if you are entirely organised, there's a good chance you will if you slack off early. Give it a go though, and see how you go.

    State rankings

wouldn't you be top 5 now though? and yeah, I just gotta stop only getting 1 mark in 2 and 3 markers, lost like 15 marks from that :S

    Atar estimate

CSSA trials are overhyped tbqh, also it's up to his teacher in marking - she may mark easy/hard etc. Too hard to estimate.
