Speed & Stall Pass Test in QLD

I have to try pretty hard to not go over by more than 5, I'd say I'd do it easily more than 5 times a trip. nfi if they have the speeding kills campaign over there but if they do it'll cop a whole heap of backlash. And there is no excuse for stalling that many times, regardless of where you...

Speed & Stall Pass Test in QLD

I honestly don't mind the speeding thing, nsw/vic will never allow it because every time you speed you kill a bunch of fluffy kittens. A 5km/h tolerance is a step in the right direction (I'm guessing that the idea behind this was hills and such, just so you don't have to stare at your speedo all...

    Fines for 4km/h over limit

Lasers have a tolerance of +/-2, but unless you're doing something incredibly stupid you're not going to get done for going 3km/h over. If it's not a camera it'll all come down to discretion.

    Insurance for [red] P-Platers

On the topic of greenslips I imagine most p plater premiums would've gone up at the start of this month given that theres now at fault driver cover of up to $5000. It now costs more to register my bike than either of my parents' cars.

    Good Cars in 50k-70k range

any car, in that price range, would be of equitable build quality and reliability. that side of the 30k mark you're paying for engine and extras upwards of 90k it's all badge

    Good Cars in 50k-70k range

hahahahahahah so good another car had to be started with a coathanger - key in the ignition, then pop the hood and use the hanger to complete the relay for the starter motor one night we got rushed by 5 cops, it was the most awkward thing ever. had to sit on the kerb while they checked the...

    Good Cars in 50k-70k range

oh man, sitting in traffic, you stall, go to restart and the alarm goes off awesome the best (worst) I've had was a friends 89 camry, all of a sudden one night he'd engage reverse but it wouldn't move. Came to pick me up and drive me to a friends house, hadn't been there before so he made...

    Drivetrain of Choice?

Oh daily driving. Defeats the purpose of the question really, the different mechanics only come into play when the cars being pushed. You really shouldn't be able to tell the difference otherwise. Flooring it, I presume.

    Drivetrain of Choice?

Most driver aids don't kick in until something goes wrong. If you hammer the throttle mid corner and power oversteer, all traction control is going to do is cut the throttle by which time you're already spinning. They can limit the extent to which you lose control but (for most, near all...

    Drivetrain of Choice?

oh man you were the coolest person until this post I'm yet to take an awd for a spin but I'm weighing in that saying the difference between rwd and fwd is negligible in this day and age. Launch/traction control and torque limiting flywheels give you all the power you car can give you off the...

    the dream car thread

I see nothing wrong with buying a car largely because it looks good. EDIT: actually now that I think about it if a car didn't look good enough I wouldn't look twice at it, regardless of what was sitting in the engine bay
