    Plain packaging on cigarettes

    shall i act surprised?
  2. Existential

    Plain packaging on cigarettes

you're talking about a social issue with drinking. the only thing that attracts alcohol to people is the fact that its alcohol. smoking is largely a health issue. it does not deserve to be advertised in any way shape or form. period.
  3. Existential

    Plain packaging on cigarettes

People who start smoking at a young age wouldn't buy it. They'd get somebody to do it for them and then the appeal of the packaging would have its effect. Tbqh i would prefer phasing them out through prohibition laws in x amount of years, but i guess these small steps punishing the smoking...

    Getting Your L's

Is this system not being changed to 100 hours?

    What are your political ideals?

well for australian politics there should more political debate on issues like infrastructure, transport, health and education - most if not all of the political attention is drawn to "great big new taxes" and "stopping the boats". australia needs a governing party that aren't green douchebags...

which minor political issue do you feel strongly about?

IMO that program is a waste and a threat to secular public education. the fact that 99.9% of them are christian lobbies us quite disturbing.

    12-10units

I do 10 units, and it makes a difference. If your confident you can do it and have legitimate reasons to drop a subject, then go ahead (just ensure you dont regret it!).

Note: Dropping to General is not necessarily healthy for the ATAR.

    Voting at 16

If you read my position you would see that I argued for voluntary voting for 16/17-yr-olds too.
  11. Existential

    Voting at 16

    A) Most "voting things" are close to people and easy to get to without driving. That argument is rather irrelevant here. Also, have you perhaps heard of public transport? B) You're not making sense. C) Education systems (in NSW for one) tend to be "a lil left" esp. with regard to feminism and ATSIs.
  12. Existential

    Voting at 16

i think 16/17-yr-olds should be able to vote. To all those who say 16/17-yr-olds wouldn't take it seriously - look at most of the population who don't take it seriously. Our ill-informed democracy doesn't come from our age structure of voters, but by who takes it seriously. I think on one hand...

Keep Calm Abbott is not PM

the question for the OP is what do you mean by supporting Marxist notions. if its communism you are supporting then you should answer for it.

World to End May 21 2011

wow, and the christian bible is so reliable? the only fact regarding the bible is that it uses fabrications to make the unknown seem more comfortable. we all know these people are full of shit but i dont need to hear this from the bible. you're on the winning side, but you're using fail evidence.

I am more fearful of dealing with the police

the right to silence is the key here. as mentioned above you only need to tell police your name and address. they are not the type of respectable academics many people on BoS seek to be. please correct if im wrong but police cannot detain for hours of questioning if you are not arrested...

    Budget 2011

I absolutely agree. FFS what a waste. Gillard is just too scared of backlash. It's this kind of weakness that has Labor in the miserable position its in.

NAPLAN results determining access to teaching university degrees

HSC gives you an ATAR ATAR gives you access to university degrees generally the next year (as opposed to mature age) University degrees gives you job opportunities and advantages So basically HSC is for those who want to study the year after they finish Year 12. You would combine the HSC with...

NAPLAN results determining access to teaching university degrees

It seems the only genuine test we have is the HSC. NAPLAN and the SC are pathetic and a waste of time and money.

    Doing different option?

World Order is the best Legal option imo. It does relate to the core and flows nicely as the first option from HRs. Its extremely interesting, especially in the flux of world order we find ourself in today. My class is finished World order and we are now starting our last topic, Indigenous...
