    Neutrons

Jacaranda talks about it very briefly, something like: neutrons have a magnetic moment which can help us learn about the magnetic properties of other materials. Not sure if you have to mention it though.

    Simple limit question

3x does not = x so lets just say 3x = z sinz/x doesnt not = 1 to get it into the form sinx/x (a result we know) we multiply 1/3 since x/3 = z but this would change the value of the original equation so we also multiply by 3 so that we get (sinz/z) x 3 or (sin3x/3x) x 3

Running out of time doing a 3unit HSC paper

Really? I usually find i can knock out the 1st 5q's in about an hour. Have you tried just skipping a question if it's taking too long to figure out? I usually do this with annoying circle geo q's that are only worth a few marks.

We haven't really started year 12 yet, school's been a bludge the first week. We haven't started 4U either just been revising 3U since the 3U exam is on wednesday. Only annoying thing is that BOS isn't offering cosmology anymore :( which i was pretty excited on doing. Oh well. How about you? I...

    Classical Greek Continuers!!!

This is kind of unrelated to the thread but i was just curious, what schools teach classical greek? Our school used to, too bad no one did it :(

    Internal Scaling

My understanding of the process is this: if you are ranked first in your school assesments you gain the highest mark obtained in the HSC exam as your school assessment mark out of 50. If you come second in your school assessments you do not automatically obtain the 2nd highest mark as it is...

    Are you sure you aren't mistaking a = a^3 with a = a^2? as I see nothing wrong with the statement that -1 = -1^3 anyway... im not sure if this is correct but here goes... i) P(choose 1,2,3) = 1/2 P(choosing 4,5,6) = 1/2 P(player 1 winning) = 1/2 x 1/2 = 1/4 P(player 2 winning) = 1/2 x 1/2...

(-1)^3 cannot equal (-1) ^6/2 as you are rooting a negative number since (-1)^6/2 = ((-1)^1/2)^6 idk if that's right...

Regarding that question jetblack asked, that's 4U intergration right? I've never come across an intergration question that requires you to split the denominator in a 3U paper... have i just been living under a rock?

    Shm hsc p

    intergral of a = 1/2v^2 therefore Intergral -4x = -2x^2 + c = 1/2 v^2 therefore v^2 = -4x^2 + c when x = 3 v = -6root 3 therefore 108 = -4 x 9 + c therefore c = 144 v^2 = -4x^2 + 144 therefore v = -(-4x^2 + 144)^1/2 therefore dx/dt = -(144 - 4x^2)^1/2 therefore dt/dx = -1/(144 -...

    Q7 of SGS 1999 Trial

Thanks for the replies guys still confused about part 2 though.. Here's what the solutions say: t^2 = a(a + 2x) so t is constant, so locus is the circle centre p radius t anyone care to explain? I have no idea how they came to that conclusion from just looking at the above equation also...

    year 12 approaches..

Prelims were horrible, most of the things you learn are either completely irrelevant to the year 12 course or just common knowledge, with the exception of maths. Going to school everyday felt like I was going to day care, a complete waste of time.

How many 3unit papers have you done?

2 every day since the beginning of the holidays except i've slacked off lately. Oh well, hopefully the beginning of term 4 will motivate me again

    drop to standard??

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the standard english course is pretty similar to the advanced. One of the few differences is that you don't do a shakespearean text. So your workload isnt exactly dramatically reduced. Also advanced and standard both sit the AOS paper which are crossed marked...
