hey guys, i don't want to be a party pooper here, but i did the vacation program last summer in audit at EY....and it was quite boring. stay away from audit if you can! but i guess everyone's different. you might actually like it.

I'm not sure that is correct because I'm an EY vaccie and when I asked about the intake for 2010, they told me that currently there are no plans to reduce the grad intake? It follows that the grad intake from the vaccies should not be altered either?

I thought we would get overtime because normally casuals get paid by the hour? I would find it odd filling in 37.5 hours of work on my time-sheet when I had actually done say 43 hours.

Relax dude, I'm just trying to work out my budget over the summer cos I have debts and the like... the 3 days of work makes a difference. Thanks to the guys who replied.

Does anyone know if the EY Sydney vaccies get paid for the 3 day retreat (Weds-Fri) in the first week? Or do they only get paid for the Mon-Tues in Week 1? Cheers

A question I have is, will we be affected by the global financial crisis? I really hope they do not cut the grad. intake of the summer vaccies at the Big4.. can anyone shed any light on this?

I do B.Comm-Accounting at Macquarie and it's a solid degree. I'm a local Aussie student with an Asian background, and I have to say that there are heaps of international Asian students. . . most have probably come through SIBT (the private college on campus). You're right though, a lot can't...

I'd go for Accounting mate. For the reasons you mentioned as pros for it. The pros definitely outweigh the cons. If worst comes to worst, you can always do a CFA later...though do you need a finance degree to do a CFA? I'm not sure about that..

I think you can in Canberra, cos their vac. programs are 3 weeks each and might not overlap? e.g kpmg and ey

haha please, it's in a good location..it's right near Town Hall and you can check out the hoodlums at Galaxy World on the walk back to the station after work. What more could you ask for? I prefer EY's location to KPMG...thats in the middle of nowhere and those steps back up to the station..argh!

Twas great thanks, the people were friendly and the drinks were flowing- what more could one ask for? Hehe I sent off my contract last Thursday so that was pretty sweet.
