This thead: "yeah 1st in everything, aiming for 99.95, although will be happy with 99.90" This is why I don't go on BOS lol

Economics HSC predictions- I need your trial questions !

Can you give me an example of what you mean?

    Is there anyone left!?!?!

I regret not doing this option. Looking through the syllabus, it seems like there's a lot of stuff I already know from Q2Q. When I asked if I should do this on my own, everyone on BOS was like "nah just do what your school does". Well, going to a 300 ranked school, I pretty much ended up...

    MultipleChoice

It's B. Yes, it's true that eddy currents are produced in the tube both above and below the magnet, but the only relevant eddy currents are the ones produced in the tube below the magnet since we're talking about it being SLOWED DOWN (who cares what's going on above the magnet?)

    getting 99.95....

That's like 99.7 isn't it? There's no additional criteria as there is for Med or anything else as well

Predictions for this years final q

That would be one deformed lovechild. I guess there's probably some curve or shape with a volume that's reducable to a form that can be generalized by induction, but there would probs be so much hand-holding that it would essentially be two distinct induction and volumes q's

Predictions for this years final q

I too have a sneaking suspicion it'll be one of those ugly polynomials where complex numbers are involved, but I highly doubt they'll have integration of complex numbers, I've hardly ever seen that before. I'd defs say a mix of complex polynomials + inequalities

Predictions for this years final q

If they ever take it out they can probs reduce the exam time to 2hrs hahaha. Conics is such a POS

Predictions for this years final q

Inequalities hasnt played a big role in the last q for a while. For some reason, complex numbers never seems to make it in? Maybe this year will be the year Thoughts?

Explain like I'm 5: 'overcounting' when selecting groups.

Oh ok, thanks Realise, repped :)

Explain like I'm 5: 'overcounting' when selecting groups.

What about in this scenario; Show that the no of ways 3n students can be divided into 3 groups consisting of n, n-1, n+1 students is (3n)!/[n!(n-1)! (n+1)!] By the previous method, I did this 3nCn * 2nC(n-1) * (n+1)C(n+1) / (3!) Which leads to an incorrect answer, in that I shouldn't have...

What type of chemical reaction is ?

That's called a Hydrolysis reaction, google it :)

Explain like I'm 5: 'overcounting' when selecting groups.

This has kind of become reflexive for me at this point but I don't quite get why I'm doing it. Say I have 11 people and I want to make 2 soccer teams consisting of 5 people with the remaining person designated as a referee. The total number of ways of doing this is: 11C5*6C5 / 2 Why do I...

Time breakdown of a 4U HSC paper?

Um... do you seriously do the papers in 2 hours? I find that a little hard to believe. Don't get me wrong I'm sure you're brilliant, but even mechanically (mind the pun), sometimes you just can't move your hand fast enough through all the ugly proofs. Some of the best MX2 students I know still...

    getting 99.95....

Hmm well let's put it this way, 1920 people in the state receive an ATAR above 98, while 960 people in the state receive 99+ and a mere 48 people receive 99.95. Aiming that high has more to do with self-satisfaction, pride and I daresay ego than anything else. I know the saying, shoot for the...

    where is my mistake

    Your table doesn't look right? If the function is 1/(1+ x^2) then should f(1) = 1/2 , f(2) = 1/5 ... etc. You got some weird numbers The height is right, but you applied Simpson's rule wrong. The correct form is h/3 ( f(x1) + 4f(x2) + 2f(x3) + 4f(x4) + 2f(x5) + ... f(xn)) i.e. it alternates...
