    B Com with overseas experience

No major will simply allow you to go overseas - I think you have to apply for those overseas exchange programs within the uni

    Transfering courses

Not exactly...GPA is a grade point average (where HD=7, DN=6 etc), and WAM is the average of your course mark.
  3. Minai

    Transfering courses

Nah, they don't take into consideration which uni you're at, although it's an advantage to have done the first degree at the same uni, as it's much easier crediting subjects to your new degree. In the past, the Faculty of Commerce has taken the higher of UAI or first year results (GPA) in...

what are my chances?need help asap!

Your best chance is to put B Commerce as your first preference (as no one knows what the cutoffs will be next year). Second preference should be B Economics and then third pref should be B Arts (also, it's Arts not Art). Whether it's "easier" doing Arts or Econ first year...well, it's easier...

    B Com with overseas experience

If you select B Com (International), I think that gives you the 1 year mandatory overseas exchange program. A normal B Com won't give you international experience, but you can always apply for exchange programs down the track

    Commerce: UNSW or Sydney?

Just proves that USyd is now the "popular" uni - so if you want to stay cool, UNSW is the alternative uni for you

    Wii's in Sydney

I was passing through David Jones at Chatswood and they have a few. Who the hell buys consoles at David Jones anyway...

    Ernst & Young

The EY building is pretty close to Flinders St Station isn't it? You can just probably tram it from UMelb to EY, it'd take about 15-20 mins. You probably won't have parking, so I guess public transport would be the way. When going out to clients, I suggest you get a lift from one of the senior...

Estimated cutoff for commerce/economics (Liberal Studies)

Yes there's a mandatory exchange in 3rd I think...perhaps the cutoff will be somewhere around 99..with only 30 places..

    Commerce: UNSW or Sydney?

UNSW - it now has a Faculty of Business, where it knowledge-shares with AGSM (FCE and AGSM merged this year). I went to UNSW, highly recommend it :)

Wat's the advantage to combine Commerce with Law?

It all counts for shit if someone does Com/Law for the parents, and ends up hating the job they land...
  12. Minai

    Reasonable hours and the law

Yeah agreed. If you don't put in the hard yards, don't expect to get many positive reviews. If a client has a 10 day deadline for an audit to be complete, there will be significant pressure from managers and above to get things done, and if it means 10 hour days to get things done, then so be...

    Summer "Vacation"

Dunno about you guys, but at the client I'm at, I get our vaccy to do basic audit work, talk to the client's accountants etc
  15. Minai

Now called the Faculty of Business?

Hmm what the hell...I guess it was a necessity given the merge with AGSM oh well...will ComSoc still be called ComSoc?

Prison Break (For people following US tv)

Holy shit! Now things are definately going to be interesting...
  17. Minai

    sudden increase in Optus ADSL?

Mmm...I've been on cable for 5 years now, and it's starting to get "slow" (i.e, files are getting larger and larger, so things take longer to download). Still, HTTP downloads from good servers go at 700-1100 KB/s
  18. Minai

wat subject i take year 2?

Yeah I'd get your LEGT subjects out of the way as quick as you can - they aren't that hard and won't take up too much of your time (away from your finance or accounting or whatever)
  19. Minai

    Graduate accounting positions

At EY, salaries are reviewed yearly (and performance is reviewed bi-annually) - this means that at all levels from Grad to Senior Manager, salary increases (and promotions) are linked to performance. I'm sure this is roughly the same at all Big4.
