    Group-based Assessments at Uni

This is usually dependent on the units you take as they vary. Sometimes group are assigned but I've commonly found that in about 75% of cases, they let you choose your own groups. You can always report lazy members to your tutor and I have seen this happen first hand in other groups. Let me...

    Real interest rates

Personally, I think the CPI would be a more accurate measure. Underlying inflation is good when you want to measure the theoretical changes in inflation but with the real interest rate, it pertains to the interest rate in terms of a basket of goods so you need to take all the variables at face...

    ATAR aim?

I would recommend having a go at Advanced first, and if you don't like it then you can drop it. Year 11 is the time for experimenting with these kinds of things so don't feel too rushed.

    How to Access your Results

Yes, I would recommend the calculator. I inputted my marks when I got my HSC marks back two years ago and the estimate ATAR was 0.05 off the actual ATAR.

HSC Results- Anyone else nervous AND excited?

I did a lot of drinking the night before the results were released in 2009. Needless to say, it was a good night.

Re: The Official Football Thread Suck to be a Man U fan today. Karma.

Ohh the joys of studying! And are these holidays actually holidays?

Approach the HSC at your own pace. I did absolutely no study during the HSC except focusing on assignments and I did extremely well. Don't buy into the drivel about studying every day for X amount of hours. It will only end up frustrating you further.

    Stressing about my atar!

Nah mate, I can't speak that well. Korean was actually my first language but I inadvertently phased it out after began Kindgarten. I'm taking classes so I can relearn it. Despite that, I've always been able to eavesdrop into Korean conversations, very much of the ajumma persuasion.

    Stressing about my atar!

My mum was talking about how one of her acquaintances moved to Australia recently and their kids are struggling at school so she asked me if I would mentor them. I wonder how they would feel being mentored by a halfie? :haha:

    Fark

As far as I can see, 12/15 would be the maximum mark you could get and that would only be obtainable if you pretty much aced the content of the presentation. Expect between 10-12/15

    Stressing about my atar!

I love how all the ajummas congregate at each others house and state that they feel their kids are no-hopers. Happens all the time.

    2011 putnam

Never did 4U Maths but I would say this wouldn't look out of place in first year university mathematics.

    The Football Thread

Re: The Official Football Thread Also keep in mind that you guys keep talking about either redeveloping Anfield or moving to Stanley Park. The money has to come from somewhere.

    Case study brazil

Be wary of using just a textbook when composing notes for an essay. They tend to be quite limited and teachers will be able to recognise this in a heartbeat. I would recommend doing some other research to consolidate what information you may find in the textbook...

    Scaling

Generally teachers spout out shit like that because they feel students will obsess about it too much and make uninformed decisions in the lead up to the HSC. More often than not, they come clean during the HSC.

Economics or Studies of Religion? (Year11)

As stated before, don't have a misconception about Economics based on how Commerce was in Year 10. They are nothing alike. In regards to a school dropping certain subjects from running in Year 12, I don't believe they would be able to do that provided that students are disadvantaged from other...

    Scaling

Just make sure that you don't make decisions based on the perception of how a particular subject scale. The mantra that you should do the subjects you believe you will enjoy reigns supreme. Doing well in lower scale subjects is much better for your marks and ATAR in comparison to doing poorly in...

    The Football Thread

Re: The Official Football Thread I should add the Darren Bent was miles ahead of the rest of the players at SAFC in regards to quality but he obviously wouldn't win PotY because he left mid season. Sunderland were absolute shit after he left so Sunderland coming 10th does not give a good...

Economics or Studies of Religion? (Year11)

Economics is very much grounded in theory but an understanding of current events and how that theory can be applied to such cases will do you well. It isn't so much a research-intensive subject, at least in high school, but if you want to get the best marks you will need to do some personal...
