    general UNSW chit-chat

Well, yes it is a shame that the way the university operates is to a certain degree influenced by financial matters. Ultimately, the uni has to bow to the almighty $$$ - blame the capitalists. Unfortunately for UNSW, if nothing is done to 'fix' the university, UNSW might be out of 'business'...

    Removing fails from transcript

How'd you do that? myUNSW should automatically exclude you from the course. ace: yes the 7 years is correct. Our official line is not to go over the credit points. In any case, what we say is worthless, it is between yourself and the government, the university only tells the government how...

    Removing fails from transcript

Yes, that's the official line - you can't go over the limit. My advice on the BOS forums is not official:rofl:. And yes, once you pass, you can't repeat.

    Removing fails from transcript

I believe they have recently changed (ie. this year) - the Commonwealth will support you up to 7 years full-time. So technically, if you go 'over' the credit points for your degree, you might be able to get the government to pay for it. Another possibility is to transfer, all your marks...

    general UNSW chit-chat

Personally, I agree with Hilmer's vision for the university. UNSW is sliding down the Go8 scale and action is needed to fix that. The university is trying to change its financial position - it currently has very little reserves (in the order of millions - compared to USYD - billions)...

    general UNSW chit-chat

The timetable is not officially released yet - it should be ready for 1 December, but it might be a few days late. Timetabling thousands of classes is no small task. Currently, UNSWide timetabling is working hard on the timetable, there are about 3000-4000 classes yet to be scheduled. And...

    Removing fails from transcript

Forget it. It doesn't happen. You can get Withdrawn without Failure - which would remove the fail from your transcript if you can prove why you should get it removed.

    They can't afford it.

Yes, the Library windows have been cleaned. I noticed how clear the views were a few weeks ago. And only early this week (I saw a team of about 10 cleaners) trekking inside the library - their shirts advertised them as window cleaners!

The views from the library are very similar, and almost identical. My photo doesn't show the entire view. I also found out that Unisearch used to be a bowling alley - how cool! Kensington Bowl: Clancy in the 70s:

    Part time, number of subjects

Let me just reiterate what sunny said. A full-time study load is at least 18UOC. Anything less constitutes part-time. It doesn't matter whether your classes are are night, or you work full-time, the part/full-time definition refers to your study load. It has nothing to do with your...

    Advanced Science student projects

Exceptions are made for the best students. For the few who are talented enough, it is possible to get your program varied ie. can 'accelerate'. Those students must speak with the Associate Dean, and get it approved. Of the few students are like this, typically they are those who top the...

    Finance and Maths

Quant Risk is an Advanced Science Study plan. And Commerce/Advanced Science is not currently offered. It is in the works (there's a lot of politics involved), and we anticipate it may be offered in 2008.

Hmm, why didn't I see that coming? Would of had my camera handy.. I was on campus at around 8pm. Bumped into a few kids asking for the roundhouse. They were quite rude, I mean, here I am pointing out where the Roundhouse was (we were at Matthews), and they are swearing at me...They looked...

    Finance and Maths

Yes, I was just about to mention Quantitative Risk. In essence, it will be similar to our existing Maths/Finance combination.. However, the Quant Risk courses include a selection of maths, actuarial and finance courses - the best of all words (if you like it that way...) It will be...

And a few more... The Scientia looks a bit crooked to me, I've already rotated the photo though... This was a hard shot, it was shot yesterday afternoon at sunset, and the sky shows blown highlights...

Well, just one picture from today. Some of you might recognise the Red Centre. It's not so much a picture of UNSW, just happens to be shot on campus, thats all. But expect more to come later!
