    Stupid Wall Planner

I've used my student card at food outlets, and newsagets, as well as my student card. Both seem to work just fine!! Lol you can pick up source cards without being a student- rock up to o-week, put some fake details in and off you go! I also think the diary has improved, but the wall planner...

Urgent question on payment of uni fees

20% discount only refers to upfront HECS-HELPS amount. The activity fee is due on the 3rd March, and the HECS-HELP census date is the end of the month. As for the activity fees, I'm not sure what happens now, with the abolishment of the fees in S2. Previously, if you had a debt, you could...

    psych 1001

With PSYC1001 Lectures, remember that if you miss one, you can go to an alternative, they run repeats later on in the evening. Second hand texts: look on the Basser steps, and quad for the yellow slips (people selling 2nd hand books). Don't buy from the 2nd hand bookshop, its a waste of...

So UNSW ppl.. How many mates/friends have u made so far!!!

Yeah it can be difficult - but don't be afraid to talk to people, they willl be in the same boat as you. Today I met a first- year science student, and asked if he would like to have lunch with us, but I think I scared him off, I was just trying to be nice!! Otherwise, wait for your...

    Math 1131

In a BCom degree, MATH1151 is for Actuarial Students. QMA is the 'norm' for other students'. In a BCom/BSci degree, only take MATH1151/1251 if you are doing Actuarial or Finance/Maths. In a BCom/BSci degree, you can do MATH1131/1141 as they satisfy the 'math' requirements - but you will...

    Classroom help.

Applied Science G01 is a lecture theatre on the left of the steps entering into the Applied Science Building. The only problem will be getting to the Applied Science Building itself, due to the construction work either go from the Roundhouse or from the Bookshop, and theres an entrance through...

    UNSW Fees?

You won't recieve an email. On myUNSW, the liability will become $0.00. HECS is dealt with the ATO, and you'll get a letter from them in maybe a year or so!

    Is anyone still matriculating?

They will. It will turn up in a letter eventually, outlining your HECS debt.

    BIOS1201 and CHEMxxxx

Yes, a lot of first-year (and even higher years) labratory work is performed as a team. In chemistry, you will be in pairs, and sometimes your entire bench (4 people) will work on a project. In biology, there may be 2 or 3 per group. In second year biochem, theres 8 people to a group etc...

    Labcoats and timetables

Using a short-sleeve lab coat leaves your arms unprotected. It might not be okay with the demonstrators, it depends on the OH&S regulations. If you already have it, they might let you off, but its best to check, as Survivor39 pointed out.:) Personally, I would recommend a long-sleeve...

    ECON1101 Prescribed Textbook

I doubt there will be much difference. As a textbook, I really like McTaggart, it is a very good textbook. I would recommend you buy the slightly chunkier version with both micro and macroeconomics, as you can save a lot of money. As for the page references, its no big deal, as a bright young...

    Ignored by the science faculty?

I was just pointing out that you need to take all the figures/wonderful things about the faculty with a grain of salt. The figures may be correct - but what they actually mean is open to interpretation. Of course, at a faculty welcome, they will point out all the wierd and wonderful things...

    Ignored by the science faculty?

Congratulations! You have fallen for their marketing! Seriously, thats what they want you to think. Where does the Faculty of Medicine fit in with the scheme of things? I believe they are in a separate area altogether!
