How big is the hole in your pocket? (2008 textbooks and materials)

CUL204: No idea yet LAW114: $60 POL276: Just looked at it today and found it quite amusing. They advise course notes which would be around $20. But then they "recommend" that I buy 3 other textbooks at $45 each. I thought, heh, I don't fucking think so

    paralegal/legal sec work

Heya Just wondering if anyone's got a position like this/knows someone else who has. The thing is whenever I look in the paper/net/uni website, you tend to need legal secretary experience. I've been to a couple of interviews where it hasn't said you need experience, but when you get there it's...

What subjects will you be doing in 2008?

Yup I'm doin cul204 and cul308. Did u do wst units last yr? i reckon. I remember a few months ago when all the baby ducks were running around....and all the father ducks were chasing people on to the road near the carpark......way too cute

hai guyz do u think we should tattoo DFEE on fee payin students foreheads?

The dfee place for law@ sydney uni was 97.95. People who get that sort of uai aren't slackers. I don't like dfee places either, I'd be glad to see them gone. But this stereotype of people who get dfee places being slackers is just that: a stereotype-it doesn't represent everyone and hence...

    Traveling to uni time consuming??

Well I'm a 10min walk from campus (it's very hilly). If the 1.5 hrs was uninterrupted then it'd obviously be easier, seeing as you could do course readings etc. in the time so it's not wasted. But yeah with syd transport you end up going all over the place rather than in the direction you need...

    missed unsw law by 0.05

I read that while cut offs can go up or down, the likelihood of the cut offs going down is very small (particularly for a uni like that), seeing as unis have already set the minimum uai needed for their courses. You've got the options of ringing up or transferring

    2008 Transfers!! =]

Got my internal transfer from arts@ mq to arts/law@mq. Though I accidently put arts/law at UTS above mq for my uac prefs and accidentally got that instead :( Will fix it up for late rounds

Post Your 2008 University Offers Here! (UAC, VTAC, etc) (No Spam) (UAI cutoffs link)

Re: Post Your 2008 University Offers Here! (UAC, VTAC, etc) (No Spam) Got an offer for arts/law @UTS, though am thinking I will take my internal offer for arts/law @macquarie instead, as I'm already settled there. Congrats to all!

What to Do before 9pm tonite

    bags

Shoulder bags are popular. Backpacks are sensible but apparently not as "trendy" . You'll find you probably won't need a pencil case-just a highlighter, pen, pencil is sufficient. Then again some people don't bring a bag at all-these people mystify me. They sit in class with only a notepad and...

UAC Main Offers on 17/1 at 9pm (Sydney time) (Post offers in thread above ^^)

Re: UAC Main Offers on 17/1 at 9pm (Sydney time) Are you fluent in another language? Even if you are, I highly doubt it's faultless. Give him a break jeez

    part time or full time?

I rang up about this last yr and they told me that you're considered full time if you do 9 cp or over per semester. When I went to get my cityrail sticker they only requested to see proof of my sem 1 subjects for me to get the sticker for the entire year....so if that's what you're inquiring...

What do you call your lecturer/professor?

I think it's because in uni you're dealing with a whole different age group. When kids are younger you need the "Mr" or "Mrs" to place emphasis on the fact that the teacher is an authority figure. When you're 18+ and in uni most people learn to shut the hell up and listen because they realise...

What are some useful things to know before starting law?

I love it when people say it the way it is..... edit: I'm reminded of Dr Cox off scrubs lol

What happens if i change my preferences now?

no, they do not fine you if you change your prefs for the late round

What happens if i change my preferences now?

Yeah it won't allow you to do it. If you change it AFTER the main round offers are released, it will be considered in the late round

    Awkward

this is going to sound really ignorant, but "Bond"? You didn't say whether you were living away from home. If you are, then I get you, seeing as i had the same problem when i first started living away from home. Advice: 1) Try to get into groups/clubs at oweek at your uni-they organise events...

    Waivers

I'm in the same boat. The convenor of the course granted me a waiver via email, but I suspect I'm gonna haveta get her signature, and she's on leave till late jan, making it hard for me to get enrollment for my art subjects out of the way. Looking at the form now, it looks like you're gonna have...
