    Complex Number proof???

Ok in teh Fitzpatrick test book, there are a few "show" questions which to me seem quite ridiculous; ex 31(b) Question 32. e.g. Show, that for z1,z2 and z3, where z = x + iy z1(z2.z3) = (z1.z2)z3 Do you simply let z1 = x + iy, z2 = a +ib..... Expand and then collect like terms to prove...

    Question 4 (a) (ii)

Yep thats how I thought you can attack the question. Assume they're tangents, draw a perpendicular line to each tangent, sum of all areas, factorise and you got your proof... Thanks.

Hey guys. Just curious. Whats the hardest four unit question you have ever seen. I mean not only teh HSC, but trial papers too. Please quote this question and briefly describe what it asked. Thanks.

    Question 4 (a) (ii)

Hey. For question four of the 2008 HSC paper, it said the circle touched all three sides of the triangle. Does that mean you can assume the sides of teh Triangle KLM are all Tangents to the circle. Need that for the second proof... What is another way to do it??

    Complex number question???

    Solve the following equation: x^2 - 2isec[theata]x - 1 = 0 Im getting x = i(sec[theata] + Tan[theata]) and x = i(sec[theata] - Tan[theatre]). Is this right? Or is there a way to simplify it even further??? Thanks.

The quickest way to find this???

Hey there. What would be the fastes way to do this question??? Find thelength of the focal chord that meets the parabola x^2=-12y at (2,(-1/3)) Basically I found the equation of the line, Found the second intercept and then determined the length. This method can be quite long for such a...

Preliminary Course: Absolute equations and inequalities.

When you have inequalties involved, usually you have to test; especially if theres more than 1 absol value in teh equation. Although, if you do a lot of examples, you will find that certain types of questions dont need testing. You also have to test an equality like this |z+3| + |z-9| = 5...

    Parametric equations.. Please help.

Hi. Lately Ive been transforming a pair of parametrics into Cartesians. I've been a little confused when it comes to a qustion that has restriction on y-values instead of x. I work out the solution but when I look at the answers, the answer is usually a different equation. For example: Solve...

    Silly Mistakes???

Hey there. Ok basically I have a really bad habit of making silly mistakes in an exam situation (and sometimes even outside an exam). Im talking every test I do I make silly mistakes, ultimately costing me marks. My question is: How can I learn to improve from this flaw. I try to calm myself...

    Past paper books???

Ook thanks. So yeah they can be quite useful in that when you finish a topic, you can relate to specific questions. Although, it probably wont be a good idea because from what I know, exams tend to stick more than 1 topic in a question...
