    Oldwives tale or anecdotal evidence?

Remember that the UAI is a ranking index. So the more people who get band 6's, the less chance of getting a 99 UAI. There isn't a set system where if any student gets all band 6 he/she automatically gets 99+

    scared and worried

If the proper marks are entered, SAM is quite reliable. Because you have not finished your HSC yet, you have no idea what type of marks you would be getting. It does not matter if your subject doesn't scale well, if you perform well enough, you will be able to get a high UAI. For now I really...

    Explanation of HSC Marks (Moderating)

The current system does take into account of the relative marks between each student.

How much do aligned marks change?

The aligning process is carried afresh every year so it's hard to say how much a raw mark can change. If you have a look at the stickies on the technical arcana forum there are some threads that show the differences between raw and aligned hsc exams for a few subjects. Usually the aligned mark...

    Azn Guys!!

Waiting for an admin or bubz to come online so the post can be deleted. Sorry, I don't have the power in this specific forum to do it.

    Azn Guys!!

It's cool. Just make sure your computer is perfectly fine by running a few scans because I'm not sure what type of trojan/virus is in it. And no you shouldn't be worrying about this more than your HSC :P That comes first priority :)

    Azn Guys!!

f3nr15 has been banned for 2 weeks for posting a link to a malicious website. Let me clarify, he is not me. I am a moderator and would never do such a thing. Best course of action would be to do a full system scan for viruses. If you feel your current software isn't good enough try the free...

Can they split your english advanced mark?

2 Units of English must count. It can be any 2 units that includes extension 1 English and extension 2 English. In your case, looking at your signature, you are doing extension 1 English, so yes they can split up your English Advanced into one unit and count one unit of your extension 1...

    Explanation of HSC Marks (Moderating)

I have to say ko0l that you are making quite a few misinterpretations on the processes involved. helper has been pretty much spot on on how it works. I'll make a more in depth response and explain why that is the case later tonight.

    The funniest thing happened....

SAM does NOT accept trial marks. That's why the UAI result it gave you is low. Typically, the huge majority of students receive a HSC mark that is above 50 after the aligning process. Just inputting trial marks is not the right thing to do.

    School Assessment Marks and UAI

The marks the UAC uses in calcuation of the UAI is your RAW moderated assessment mark, and your RAW HSC exam mark. Here's a flowchart to illustrate it. http://www.boredofstudies.org/other/flowchart.pdf

    School Assessment Marks and UAI

Your school assessment mark counts for 50% of your HSC. But the school assessment mark that you add up together throughout all your assessments is not the mark that is used. That mark undergoes a moderating procedure to ensure marks are fair throughout the state and take into account the varying...

    accumulated rank??

Normally schools are not allowed to release these ranks until a particular date that is after your HSC exams. -Usually- the ranks they put on your report card is your trial exam ranks. Though a lot of schools do tend to ignore the rule and give students their ranks.

Re: The HS That's as far as it will go. Seriously. People are asking for honest opinions. If you want to act like an idiot and give false information, it could really cause some damage. Please be considerate next time.

    ????????

Why would it do that ? Your HSC exam mark and your moderated school assessment mark are different.

    ????????

It's possible if your performance in your HSC exam is considerably better than your performance in school.

    best 10 units

It will work so that the your combination of subjects will give the best result. So if one of your 2unit subjects isn't going too well, but your 1 unit extension maths is, they will cut the 2unit subject in half so it's only worth 1 unit. So you don't have to worry about that :)

    Uai Helpp

There isn't. Extra-curricular activities will not grant you any extra UAI points, but that shouldn't deter you from participating in any :p

    Explanation of HSC Marks (Moderating)

The HSC exam does have a major impact. I heard it's exactly 50% of your HSC. :) If you say they don't average the school assessment and the HSC exam on a 50/50 basis, I wouldn't exactly be calling that averaging, since averaging 2 things means they will have equal parts i.e. 50/50.

    Explanation of HSC Marks (Moderating)

Your assessment mark will not change. If you don't do well in school but your performance in the HSC exam is good, it will still simply be the average of your moderated assessment mark and your HSC exam mark that is taken. So if you didn't do too well in your assessment and got a 65/100. but...
