    another question

why is a metal in a high oxidation state a powerful oxidant? specific reference to transition metals as compelx ions is good...more aimed at chem of art ppl but heaps of you leets out there can gimme an answer :)

    question

perhaps the energies between it's d orbitals are too small or too large resulting in photons outside the visible spectrum

    question

cool and do ppl know why Mn2+ is colourless/ it's got electrons in it's d orbitals, so why no colour?

    How would you answer this...

    here here!

    water stuff

oh so when testing for hardness you titrate the sample against edta, using erichromeblack-t as the indicator hopefully i remember that

    water stuff

    wait a sec...so is EDTA erichromeblack-T?

    Acid ionisation

hahaha frigid..or inasero or someone...clarify what is ionisation and dissociation

    Acid ionisation

what doesnt really matter? dissociation and ionisation? i dunno..that's why i'm asking i think dissociation is specific to water...meh

    Acid ionisation

nope it just means that the acid has 2/3 hydrogens capable of being donated to a base but after each ionisation, the successive one becomes harder and harder after the first complete ionisation of h2so4, it forms an equilbria HSO4- + H20 <--> H3O+ + SO42- btw...is it more correct to say...

    pH question

cool then i think i'll have a quick read through my notes and i'm set! good luck to all of us!!!

    Car of the 1337s

    nah take my excel!
  13. T

    pH question

but eeyore...it's diprotic...so after the first ionisation...there's the second equilbrium so then we can't work that out??

    Naturally occuring bases?

    hehehe

    Nuclear chem dotpoint.

    thanks inasero!
  16. T

    Nuclear chem dotpoint.

impossible to accelerate neutrons in cyclotron...yuo need an ion, ie a charge that can be influenced by a magnetic field but who cares this is physics!
  17. T

    Naturally occuring bases?

we don't even need to know but ammonia when it dissolves naturally forms nh4oh right? so technically it's naturally

    pH question

    say if a qyestion says yuo've got 0.01 M H2SO4 does you say pH = -log[0.02] ?? and if you had a 2M HCl wha't it's pH? -0.3?!?

UAI estimation and shedding some light to the naive

well i'm not sure about your school..is it in the top 20 or something? because your ranks are qwuite good and yoru hsc raw marks are good so IMO you're looking at way higher than 85 but that's based on crap :p

what radioisotopes are you going to use?

just remember that you gotta have the properties for each thing making it useful it it's application especially the medicine one!
