    GAMSAT practice test from medprep

i have a medprep exam i downloaded a few years ago, forgive me for not checking if it's the same as the one above because i have dial-up and also not much brain after my 3rd night shift. are the sample exams usually about the same as the real thing? my housemate wants to do grad med for 2009...

What course should I do, Acturial or science related?

defer for a year. do a working holiday. if i hadn't deferred i would have started an advertising degree - instead i worked in marketing and realised i hated it greatly.

    Nursing & Midwifery.

far out, she sounds nasty! i'd like to know what she's basing that on. and whether she's had children herself. i make it a point to let everyone i work with know that i appreciate their help - i can't do my job without drs and allied health and vice versa - so i would never pull rank on a JMO...

    Nursing & Midwifery.

i'm not taking your statement personally, it's quite obviously not a personal attack on me. but the attitude that you and most of the general population have that all nurses are are mindless drones who 'spend all their lives showering people' is highly irritating.

    Nursing & Midwifery.

that is the kind of attitude that totally shits me off. for fucks sake, nursing isn't a job where you turn up, bathe people and put them on bed pans for 8 hours a day. YES, you will have to shower people because they can't do it themselves (and YES, that does include women who are post-op...

    Nursing & Midwifery.

i definitely agree with the team statement, there is one GP/ob/gynae dr here that will pretty much just do the opposite of what you suggest just because he can. he's sent women for caesars that don't need it and delayed sending women who do (along with other shit i've had to deal with in the...

    >18 yrs o +defacto/marriage (>12 mths)= youth allowance

centrelink are generally complete arses to deal with. they will lose your application, or not lodge it, or tell you to bring certain documents and when you arrive you discover they need more so your application is delayed further. however, once you finally have everything up and running it's...

    All those doing medicine...

from most accounts, be prepared to kiss your social life goodbye for a few years once your intern year starts. but from what i've seen, you'll party hard enough during your uni years to make up for it ;)

UAI and UMAT requirements this year

i think i have some sort of benzo resistance, 10mg temaze does nothing for me and neither does 10mg diaz. not together, mind you. that could get interesting! i've used them to try and chill out to get to sleep at night, they don't work.

Anyone choose a course for the prestige/graduate salary and regret it?

i know the surgeons get a crapload more money from taking cases at private hospitals vs. only working in public hospitals.

    Factors influencing choice of specialty

does the need to choose a specialty (or even to choose med over surg) and stick with it worry you? i think that rigidity would cause me the most stress, not really being able to change your mind. and it hardly seems surprising that females are less likely to end up in surgery, from what i've...

list of suburbs for rural/remote classification

well to be honest i'm surprised we're in the same category as the remote clinics that are in the same area health service, i would've thought we'd be category 6 (which is what Broome is classed as). where i'm at (Derby) we have the regional hospital, that status is getting moved to Broome...

Anyone choose a course for the prestige/graduate salary and regret it?

actually, you make aa good point. i was talking about this with my housemate (a midwife) the other day - if you compared someone who leaves school at 15 to do an apprenticeship and someone who goes through all of high school and uni to study med (which could be up to 8 years if they did a first...
