    Nihilism

Lol, I would say that it is more embarrassing to say that you have faith in nothing (as opposed to somthing), or worse yet, mankind, but w/e its all opinion really. I have never claimed that everything has been explained, and that nothing more is to be discovered... Where did you get this...

    Homosexuality in Australia

Australia is a democracy, not a theocracy, thus religious "rules" are not automatically made into laws. However, this nation has a past which has historically been based on the morals of the Christian faith, of which a large number of the population follows. This moral stance against...

    Nihilism

I'd say most don't even know if they believe in that with any degree in certinty (can't blame them tho...). Half the time its something along the lines of "oh I don't know, but I'm sure some scientist does!" or "we can't be sure (i.e. they have no freeking clue lol) but one day we will know...

    Butter or Margarine?

Its a timed setting, not heat; some individual pieces or types of bread would take longer to "toast" based on thickness etc, and frozen bread takes longer as well etc.

Do I need chemistry for Bachelor of Medicine?

Well yea, I suppose its important, but you wouldn't do physics just because of scaling, like you have to sort of be interested in it to to a degree... I just that because bio is way easier, and it is sorta half-relevant to med (not assumed knowledge but its a similar-ish sort of field).

    Atheism - Discussion thread

Lol... isn't it the other way around, all squares are rectangles but not all rectangles are squares? So it's sort of like: Strong athiest: do you believe God exists? "No". Do you believe there is no God? "Yes. Weak athiest: do you believe God exists? "No". Do you believe there...

    Preparation for Year 11

1st chap of physics is deadbeat boring, and chem is mostly repeated stuff from previous years :( Did you learn all the concepts for maths or did you only do like parts of the tests which like you already know? Good work btw, you must have real self control lol :p

Most WANTED and Most HATED subject!

+ 1 Most anticipating: Modern (or English, depends largely on the text we're doing, can either be great or ok IMO). Most apprehensive: Maths

Do I need chemistry for Bachelor of Medicine?

Keep Chem IMO, everyone else seems to be saying as well. If you're worried about workload, maybe change physics for bio (just saying, since bio has undeniable similarities with med, tho its not assumed knowledge). Getting into med though will be more about the marks you can get in the...

    Nihilism

Likewise I could argue that things like the crusades were arranged by the then leaders of religion and state to advance their own personal interests, and merely hid under a false religious cause to claim legitimacy.

Maybe you explained it badly ;) Lol, nah I get it now though, took a bit tho

    Atheism - Discussion thread

Thanks :) But, what would be used to describe a person who "actively disbelieves" as opposed to an "athiest" which is a person who simply does not believe? Is there a proper term for that? It is quite confusing as roughly half of the definitions of "athiest" describe it as actively...

    Atheism - Discussion thread

Yea I know. They're really similar though one goes further than the other. Various definitions conflict tho, some sources say its the disbelief in God, others say the absence of belief in God. Quite frustrating.

    Atheism - Discussion thread

But at present, owing to the lack of evidence for either case, agnostics are (presently) neither convinced there is a God or there isn't? Isn't that what I said, athiests believe there is no God? Or would you say there is a difference? Wouldn't you say that an ateapotist (lol) believes...

    Nihilism

Thats all Old Testament (I'm not denying its in there), Christians follow primarily the New Testament (when something is mentioned in both the OT and NT). Christ clarified much of the OT "rules" during His time on Earth, for example, telling a crowd of people about to stone an adulterer...

    Nihilism

Yes but promoting a religion or faith is not the same as forcing someone to follow it. It is possible to be Christian, promote your religion to others, but still respect their choice on whether or not to believe themselves. You don't force people to go to Church, or to pray to a God they...
