    Atheism - Discussion thread

I would agree agnostic is an absense of belief. But athiests go further and assert that there is in fact no God, for which they do not have evidence to prove this. Athiests believe there is no God. Agnostics merely say (correctly) that presently there is no proof that there is a God or...

    Nihilism

Because both Stalin and Mao banned religion and actively persecuted people who believed in it. Its a response to people saying that religion is bad because crazy people force their beliefs on people who follow different Gods or who don't believe. Just as harmful consequences occur when...

    Atheism - Discussion thread

No but making an assertion for which there is no evidence is a belief. Belief is characterised by faith. There is no cold, hard, definate evidence that there is no God, therefore believing that there is no God is a belief. (This wouldn't apply to you as it would an athiest, being agnostic).

    Nihilism

Rofl learn to spell. I now take it back. Hitler is redundant as an example; however both Stalin and Mao were athiest, the point still stands.

    Atheism - Discussion thread

Faith, and faith alone, which is also what you are relying on to support your assertions, you're just not aware of it :) Read my previous post again. What evidence is there to support the notion that the universe is governed by a series of finite laws which can be discovered and understood...

    Atheism - Discussion thread

I disagree, faith is belief or trust: belief in, devotion to, or trust in somebody or something, especially without logical proof. Note an absence of evidence/logical proof to support an assertion is not evidence in itself that the assertion is not true. If someone remains faithful to...

    Woot page 1000

    Does God exist?

Back to what I said about sources, if you accept that the Bible is a credible source, then the God you believe in is the one is described in the Bible. (Likewise with other religions and their scriptures). As such, a Christian can claim to know about God (based on what is described of Him in...

    Does God exist?

Um there is an element of truth to it (everything does have consequences), in the physical and social sense, as in if I'm really mean to everyone, I'm not going to recieve much help if I need it, and vice-versa. I don't believe in it in a spiritual sense, though I try to be nice to people...

    Does God exist?

:uhoh: Lol, I said in that post I wans't argueing for His existence, simply if you accept that He does exist, why he would allow said bad things to happen to good people. Sadly I have both a brother and a sister  No when you meet my brother, he may not appear mean to you...

    Atheism - Discussion thread

Funnier when it's true. :haha: Lol, ok but until then we just have faith that it will amirite? ...Wait didn't someone say something about believing in something because of faith alone is dumb? ... Shhh don't tell anyone. Lol gimme gimme gimme. If you can answer one of the...

    Does God exist?

I understand where the arguement is comming from, and I can sorta empathise with the writer, but to answer your question, no I don't, and can't imagine what such reasons would be. I can see they'd be specific to a case-by-case sorta basis but other than that, your best guess is as good as mine :(

    Does God exist?

Lol, no offense or antyhing, but its not like you would understand the arguement (or give it any credibility at all, which I assume you don't) if you have already rejected the notion of a God existing at all...

    Does God exist?

Teapot, I know, but I wans't making the assertion that God exists (in that post, but I do believe in Him), I was giving an answer to Toenails why (should you accept the notion of God) bad things happen to good people. (He brought up this article before, of this 4 year old boy who got hit by a...

    Atheism - Discussion thread

You missed my point entirely. What makes you so arrogant, feeble human that you can hope to understand everything there is in the universe, merely through a dogmatic obsession with observation and experimentation? Even if there is no God, why should this universe obey any finite number...

    Does God exist?

(Pasted for convenience): This is one of the most difficult questions in all of theology. God is eternal, infinite, omniscient, omnipresent, and omnipotent. Why should human beings (not eternal, infinite, omniscient, omnipresent, or omnipotent) expect to be able to fully understand God’s ways...

    Does God exist?

I don't see your point, death is inevitable. In a population of 6 billion hundreds of thousands will die each day (as are born). Whether through accidents, old age or crime, people die all the time. Death is not a bad thing, even if you are not religious you have to accept that it is totally...

IDK exactly, they sorta worshiped spirits and stuff, its comparable, though yeah I suppose it may not be a religion as such. It was a belief tho.
