How to install Windows 8 and programs on an SSD

How'd you end up with the computer you have? Normally if you buy it from a retail channel (e.g. JB Hifi) it comes with the OS, etc already installed? If you went through something like a computer market or a wholesaler then that's a whole other story (which isn't really meant for amateurs)...

How much do investment bankers earn??

*shrugs* Guess so given that base is still circa $100k flat for quite a few IBD roles. I know my Big 4 bonus wasn't too different to my friends in IBD these past couple of years (obviously their base is higher though).

What are the best extra curricular's/work experiences you guys havedone?

very true (unless u just sit in a hotel all day). i found it far more interesting when candidates told me about their missions/charity work in third world countries than their internal politics working in uni societies.

CA Program - Ask questions, get answers! (new and improved)

I personally found EBA to be one of the easiest modules but that could be because I pushed myself quite hard to do well in it since I knew it required knowledge from all four technical modules previously. The reality is it's very much focussed on management accounting and ethics behind it, with...

CA Program - Ask questions, get answers! (new and improved)

Different programs/qualifications but both are recognised as professional accounting qualifications. That being said, CA is generally considered to be more challenging and is recognised overseas with more bodies- e.g. I was able to practice in the US with my Australian CA. Google it and have a...

Applied finance & Commerce- Professional Accounting or Applied finance & Economics???

Re: Applied finance & Commerce- Professional Accounting or Applied finance & Economic Well what do you actually want to do for a career? Accounting and Finance, whilst they overlap, are quite different.

What are the best extra curricular's/work experiences you guys havedone?

I was already working so it's difficult to compare- but I participated in societies which I cared about from a personal perspective- AUSCA (cars), UNIT (investing and trading), Red Cross (charity yo). And of course Comsoc (which is now BSoc).

How to install Windows 8 and programs on an SSD

I didn't realise it'd be any different to any other laptop or computer? Don't you just need to partition/format your drive, and away you go?

    Cadetships 2013 thread

Just register online beforehand to make sure you get a spot. It's a good evening- I try to make it each year if I can!

    Big 4 graduates

It will vary significantly because a lot of the larger firms recruit so many times during the year (cadets/trainees, coops, interns, grads) such that with rolling recruitment, they don't really need to worry too much about specific numbers. The only thing I can think of in relation to this would...

How much do investment bankers earn??

This. That being said, given that a good number (dare I say, most?) of those in the IB grad roles on that salary come from a Comm/Law (or double degree) background, like for like, someone who did well in Big 4 accounting and got their CA wouldn't be on such a different salary after 2-3 years...

    Cadetships 2013 thread

It's just an information evening where the different firms offering accounting cadetships send representatives to provide answers and let candidates interact with them to get a feel for each organisation. There are also info sessions and lots of freebies so its worth attending. Remember each...

    Cadetships 2013 thread

Well, similar to the above, academic performance and results aren't the only criteria nor is it really a requirement beyond getting into relevant courses in Uni (which do typically have a 90+ ATAR requirement). Maths is also not a prerequisite either but most Uni courses recommend it if you're...

    Cadetships 2013 thread

Yes- work experience is not a prerequisite especially not at cadetship or traineeship level. That being said you will still need to prove how you're relevant and what you can bring to the table compared to the other candidates applying for the same role.

    Join Young Lib or Lab?

Can't tell if this is a troll or not lol. IMO if you aren't sure which one to join, you shouldn't be joining yet. As for the impact on job prospects, well... you should be smart enough to figure this one out yourself but remember just like your views on where your political beliefs lie, the...

Good weekly salary for a uni student

Back in my first year uni, I was on $29k p/a which worked out to be approx $500 a week. That wasn't an awesome salary but it was more than enough for a uni student. Note I was working full time as a cadet. My friends who worked in o/b call centres and in data entry roles were all on more than...
