    Accounting question

Just remember that in some areas, they are extremely specialised and tend to recruit primarily through lateral means (i.e. qualified people) such as advisory or insolvency. If you are a trainee/cadet going into that space, you may not have many peers and the development opportunities may not be...

    Accounting question

Of course they do but it'll be decided/determined on a case by case basis. Once you get past the trainee/graduate stage, lateral recruitment is done on a needs and skills case-by-case basis. Having experience in a mid-tier firm helps, particularly if it's in a relevant field, but it's not...

    Accounting question

    1. They pay pretty much the same at entry trainee/graduate level- any variations would be due to timing and the firm itself. 2. Audit is the best for people who don't know much yet and want to broaden themselves as much as possible as it gives the best exit opportunities (as mentioned below)...

    Pricing of a Disel Polo

I just went on to the VW site and did driveaway pricing for Sydney (postcode 2000) > http://www.volkswagen.com.au/en/models/polo/Pricing.html

    Pricing of a Disel Polo

Any particular reason for the choice of a diesel polo? I think driveaway you're looking at >$25k for base model in manual (66TDI) and >$28k for the DSG diesel model. Don't think the Bluemotion ones are available in Australia... so it's quite a substantial premium over the non-diesel Polo (which...

    Comm/Science Any Thoughts?

The people I know who did Comm/Sci and managed to use both ended up in roles like management accounting/finance in a pharmaceutical company. Usually people just take one and run with it (e.g. Commerce).

    Samsung Galaxy S II?

I totally forgot about this thread. In the end I got a Blackberry Bold 9900 since it is more 'professional', works well with my car (i.e. I can access the internet) and it has a great keyboard. That being said the OS, even in "7" form, is still very backwards- I mean, why do I need to restart to...

How would you rate your uni's accounting courses

I have to admit, thinking back, accounting was actually pretty decent in terms of lecturers at UNSW. It really was the tutors which were a bit of a hit or miss. I had some great tutors who knew their stuff and were good at teaching, but then I also had some totally rubbish tutors who had no...

How would you rate your uni's accounting courses

I know who you're talking about- I listened to him speak at a UTS open day and thought he was amazing.

How would you rate your uni's accounting courses

I'd say it varies by lecturer because each lecturer really teaches in whichever way they feel. That being said I had a generally positive experience with accounting at UNSW throughout my degree with pretty motivated and good at presenting lecturers who tried to keep it interesting even when the...

    Should I study commerce??

Agreed with above. Do what you want to do (i.e. design) because; a) Commerce doesn't necessarily teach you how to run a business b) If you're good at design, you'll earn enough money to outsource all the other business administration related stuff which you don't need to know yourself.

I think you'd need to be more specific- i.e. what role are you seeking?

Anyone here do Bachelor of commerce at UNSW?

It just means there's a lot less contact hours but in theory you're meant to be doing self study. The reality is that most graduate jobs in the Commerce space rely on your non-academic contributions whether it be society work, work experience, charity, etc... and increasing the amount of...

Which is the best uni for business/commerce/economics?

Re: Which university is more reputable, credible, and better for Business/Commerce At the end of the day, going to a particular uni doesn't guarantee you graduate employment when you complete your degree. Yes some unis may offer some kind of internship, but it's not guaranteed, and if it was...

COURSE ADVICE REQUIRED! u mirin' ?

Re: advice needed! mirin' my choices? It's never too late to become involved, but realistically, you shouldn't be doing it because it makes you more employable- you should be doing it because you genuinely want to do something whether it's charity work, sports teams, etc... Either way, extra...
