    CADETSHIPS 2012 Discussion Thread

Incorrect. Majority do a double major I'd say (myself included) and this was back when it was the 4.5 days a week and 4 hours off per uni. Now that a lot of the big firms offer 7.5 hours off per week and hence only require people to work 4 days a week during semester, I'd say even more people...

    CADETSHIPS 2012 Discussion Thread

Guys, don't worry so much if you don't get a call back straight away. Yes some people do get called back immediately after, but not everyone does. This can happen for various reasons (some of which are beyond your control) and hence I wouldn't think too much or read into it.

    CADETSHIPS 2012 Discussion Thread

LOL you can read into it as you like but if you think about it rationally I'm sure you'll figure out why. But then on the other hand it could just be a practical/logistical thing whereby some Partners/interviewers are better at filling in forms quickly to confirm who they want to make an offer...

    CADETSHIPS 2012 Discussion Thread

PM me if you think you know who I am. That being said considering I post up details about cadetships, interviews, cars, etc... and they typically are the same topics of conversation I have in real life when people meet me... it's been figured out before by those who meet me and ask "Are you that...

Bachelor of Commerce at UNSW or Usyd?

Keep in mind that the arguments like "the majority of people in IB are from XXX university" may not necessarily reflect on the quality of the university or the course but rather just the students/candidates who study there. I'd say for most graduate positions other than the highest echelon of...

    CADETSHIPS 2012 Discussion Thread

Pretty much every mid-tier and large firm requires some form of group activity as part of the interview process. I suppose the challenge you highlight is what everyone contends with but you'll realise that not everyone is like that (at least not in every interview). My only advice is to try and...

    PricewaterhouseCoopers Traineeship/Cadetship Questions

I've answered most of your questions in response to your near identical post in this thread > http://community.boredofstudies.org/showthread.php/258521-CADETSHIPS-2012-Discussion-Thread The only other point of elimination rates and so forth... what's the point of knowing this if you don't know...

    CADETSHIPS 2012 Discussion Thread

There's a variety of factors which would make a good interview or not. Simply put though, the interview is designed to suss out the things which you can't get from an application form or a resume, and is meant to simulate a typical scenario when you are dealing with clients/team...

    CADETSHIPS 2012 Discussion Thread

Hi there, without knowing the specifics it's very difficult to answer and to be honest, any thing I say is purely speculative and only gives you false expectations. In theory you have everything going for you (high ATAR, sports, extra curricular) but unfortunately whilst people can sound good on...

Full time employees mate. You get 4 weeks of annual leave and a varying amount of study leave which you use at your discretion subject to the firm agreeing to it. At the end of the day, a full time job is 37.5 hours (minimum) a week. In some firms you get 7.5 hours of leave per week during...

Anyone work at Swot Shop, or any other coaching place?

Don't know anyone who works there currently but had a lot of friends who did. The pay was always above minimum by quite a margin but they were also very selective in who got offered jobs. Typically it was people from selective high schools in the area and ex-students.

Major in Econometrics, Economics or Financial Economics?

The thing with economics is as you progress through it, it becomes more theory-based and less real-world. You'll become very good at stats and number crunching with the various theories and formula, but whether or not it'll be useful in finance is questionable. From speaking and listening to...
