    Accounting Cadetship 2008

It's not what you wear but how you wear it. By 'wear it', it's quite obvious if you keep yourself tidy and care about how you look, and then also your behaviour whilst wearing it. A hooligan dressed in a suit will still come across as a hooligan. That's my 2c.

    Investment banks offering cadetships

I know BNP Paribas offer cadetships for the first time this year- but it's not like an accounting cadetship. The kids only work 2 or 3 days a week. *shrugs* As for why IB is so popular? I think the media sensationalises it an awful lot... look how cool Nick leeson's lifestyle was as portrayed...

    Icaa Cadetship Info Evening

Wow never seen someone so excited by the fact I'm doing B Commerce :) Course is ok. First year compulsory subjects (i.e. cores) only require a bit of maths knowledge (i.e. 2u adv). You won't be far behind if you didn't do Eco in year11/12 because whilst the gist is the same, university level...

    Accounting Cadetship 2008

^ My guess is to prepare name tags/badges and to have better ideas of numbers in advance so they can order snacks/drinks :) Because in the past some people didn't know what to wear/how to dress and got confused? *shrugs*

OMG I THINK HE DOES!.... if you PM him he might give you his details :) ps. Note to Vagabond- you going back to your school? I am but I don't think I'm invited to ICAA night anymore... too old now :(

    question: the accounting hierarchy

Hmm I can think of one firm *cough* whereby they do have to contribute* upon being welcomed to the partnership... this is based on our informal Q&A with one of the new partners at his congratulatory drinks. Anyhow regarding vagabond's post- he missed out on the new level; outsourced staff...

    sources of business news/info/current events

BRW is always good for conversation starters and business case studies. The Fin is only useful if you read it regularly but provides little use to most high school (or even uni) students. I used to like using Google News to research things. Just like internet forums and Wikipedia, both other...

    Accounting Cadetship 2008

Some firms do, and I think E&Y are the only one of the Big4 to do this (at least in Sydney). Typically the cadetship is targeted at those who are fresh out of high school (i.e. they are therefore looking at students in year12).

    Accounting Cadetship 2008

From memory there are some PwC Newcastle people on this forum (or were)- they attended the local university whilst working in the Newcastle office. With most things in life, unis included, it's not so much the firm being picky but it's upto you to negotiate things. Typically the reason why...

    Fastest takeoff in an auto?

The brake launch technique is not something new in an auto... but just watch you don't rev it too hard (or for too long)- anything higher than say 3k rpm or more than 4 or 5 seconds and you probably will kill your transmission. I can't give a very technical explanation but in layman's terms...

    Cars over 250k

Agreed. It's the same for alot of Asian countries when it comes to image when doing business. M6 is a pretty nice car but I think considering the context of the scenario, I'd be happy with a 760.

    Nissan GT-R

hahaha new gtr is nice.. but sigh if it is at the price point which they reckon it'll be in aus (i.e. $150k++) then it's far beyond my reach anytime soon. maybe grey imports will emerge?

    2008 student id's

arghh i wish i had known. I didn't see it on the myUNSW site (but didn't look very hard)... the walk from old espot upto the new FM was quite a trek after several months of not having to trek around campus >< how unfit I am!

    UNSW On-Campus Internet

Sorry too lazy to read all this but in short; 1. UNSW wireless isn't too expensive when you need it as a last resort BUT it's not very reliable (i.e. reception doesn't always work, and in lecture halls, even those which should have reception, the speed is slow and the connection drops out...

    Top 'speed' done and where?

No it was on the NS highway in Malaysia. It takes a long road.. but thankfully the highways are privately owned so there's not too many cars, and nice long smooth stretches of road :) ps. It was also an automatic.

    Top 'speed' done and where?

woooo i hit 183km/h in a proton waja which has a 1.6L engine. i even recorded video proof with my left hand whilst driving :) aren't i fully siK?! ps. it's a stock waja too.. i didn't even know a 1.6L could get to that speed. but sigh, a 2.0L camry, a 350z, a 335i and a CLS350 overtook me :(

    What exactly IS commerce/business?

Commerce/Business is basically the studies relating to how companies operate whether it be their strategies for targeting customers (marketing), how they do their book keeping/reporting and make decisions (accounting), how they raise funds to start off the business, where they can get money from...
