    Lexus

Did any of you guys see the article in today's (Friday 12th May 2006) Drive (from SMH)? The cover story was a Lexus GS450H vs. Mercedes-Benz E55 AMG... talk about an unfair comparison! But anyhow, what I found funny was how much Lexus overstated their performance figures claiming a 0-100 of...

    First Speeding Ticket

ROFL he should've thought of a more plausible one. I wonder if they'd accept "my car was caught in the draft of that truck and i couldn't slow down"

    First Speeding Ticket

Of course it's miserable to live your life knowing you hit a child... but still, better signage would be appreciated.

Looks alright. Reminded me a bit of the Cougar. May I suggest imageshack.us and the thumbnail feature?

what are the big 4? or the big 3? - meh how many are there?

Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu was the combination of three names- if I recall correctly, the three never met and the Japanese name (Tohmatsu) was named after an Admiral from the Japanese Navy who became an accountant. Anyhow, they renamed back in 2003 if I recall correctly to just "Deloitte". I...

    Pics of my prelude

I think they mean how much your body moves/travels when driving... sure it has a lot to do with the seat design as well, but different materials sometimes hold you in firmer than others. Some cars with cheap leather offer very little grip for your body and you will find yourself sliding around...

    New Honda Civic

Hmm I don't really get the kink... but I do notice (after driving it a lot more) that there's very little (if any) power from standstill (<1.5k rpm), but if you put your foot down above 3k, the car really dashes. Don't think that's what you meant Ciel, but it's the only possible irregularity...

    Prestige of Uni

Statistics would tell you that university matters with some getting much more graduate positions in certain companies than others- but I'm inclined to think it's the student candidature which makes the difference. I don't mean to bring up a Selective High Schools debate, but I think there's...

    Alloy Wheels

I know this is gonna sound really clueless of me- but when people put huge tyres (eg 18") when the car normally only had 15"- does that require anything apart from the bigger tyres? It just dawned on me I had always assumed you could just fit bigger tyres somehow... without having to change...

    Alloy Wheels

I know this is going off a bit... but how hard is it to change tyres on my car to something better? They are 16" 195/65 I think from memory. I remember my cousins forgot to recalibrate their speedo when they fitted 19" tyres to a BMW 328i (and it also made a 'scraping noise' alot)... is there...

    Pics of my prelude

So you can try to keep the car at maximum torque or in a particular rev range so the car won't change gears- or maybe just to help you predict when it'll change gears? *shrugs* I don't know why... but in my stupid Terios- it's quite annoying not having a tacho and then you can't predict when...

    Alloy Wheels

I still don't know the diff between how rims, normal steel wheels, hubcaps, and alloy wheels all compare to one another. Btw the reason I ask is because alot of dealers throw in alloy wheels when they're trying to flog the cars.

    Regards About EVO 6 !!!!!!!

Don't forget.. ABS works by stopping the brake just before it locks- and then braking again; so hypothetically I'd imagine having bigger brakes which won't lock so easily means that the braking distance should still shorten and won't necessarily need ABS. Remember- sure ABS helps, but it won't...

    Alloy Wheels

Just wondering if anyone can shed some light on the benefits of alloy wheels... I mean, I know they are lighter, look better, and supposedly get rid of heat better- but are they really that much better? I also wonder how one can go about fitting a nice set of rims to a car with alloy wheels...

Employer kept some of my pay as a bond

I don't think it has to be lodged to be valid does it? I remember (vaguely) studying this back in HSC Economics/Business Studies. But yeh, contracts can't override the law- but it all depends on how they word it, and also the exact wording of the law. I'm unsure of the legality of the law...

    Regards About EVO 6 !!!!!!!

I don't know much about brakes but I'd say having better brakes, even under normal driving, is beneficial- reliability, robustness, etc... but being able to brake later, is definitely a plus; although not one which justifies the high price. As for traction/stability control- the car is AWD so...
