    Accounting Cadetships

AHAHA you guys go to the ICAA evening too? Free food...~ Btw I thought BAcc apps weren't due until like.. much later in the year? At least that's what I thought it was like for my year- and then the interviews occur right at the end of the year as well? *shrugs*

My sister did Acct/Biz Law and she said it helped alot when she did the CA program.

    Accounting Cadetships

Yeh I think it's pretty hectic- you have to have your heart in it if you wanna go well; and I know a lot of people won't last the entire length of the program without dropping out (for a variety of reasons). All the best with your coop application. But as a tip, maybe you might wanna check...

    Cars with faulty brake lights...

Hmm... on my car you can't really see the one in the back with the spoiler in the way- maybe if I was on an uphill and the car behind me was on the downhill they'd be able to see it? *shrugs*

    BComm at which unis??

USYD isn't too bad from what i've seen... a mate of mine from PwC came from there. But I also heard their course isn't so great but then that's subjective of course- in my own experience doing ABW at USYD, they seem to have pretty good lecturers and facilities. Time will tell if their course...

    Accounting Cadetships

You gotta be willing to give up your social life... and then take it back slowly :) I was talking to my mate today about it (he's from another Big4 firm) and he has a pretty good social life. But don't go expecting to be a full socialite once you start a cadetship because it just ain't gonna...

    P's in Wetherill Park

I don't know the place you're doing the test but my tip is practice there as much as you can and try to take note of all the speed limits, potential blind spots/dangerous areas, etc...

    Cars with faulty brake lights...

Do you have both your spoiler brake light and the light in the back of your car (behind the glass) on at the same time? Honda disabled mine.

    Accounting

Creative just means you're thinking of something on your own- try to take it as 'lateral' thinking when in an accounting context perhaps? But once you start working in a certain field, I'd imagine your brain gets more used to doing a certain thing? Some people enjoy accounting and working with...

    Accounting

Depends what type of accounting you are interested in I suppose... People also say that knowledge in accounting is essential for many other careers- maybe that explains why there are some very old people in our accounting classes? :)

    Becoming a partner

I heard minority groups have better odds of being made partner for obvious reasons :P ... alot of firms have details on their newest appointed partners on their websites so maybe go check that out :)

    Accounting

Yep- it's highly specialised and to get into it you need to be pretty damn pro. I don't think it's possible for an ordinary graduate to get into it at most firms? Try reading this: http://www.answers.com/forensic+accounting&r=67

    accounting/finance salaries

What we learn in Acct1501 is book keeping. It's what people who do a TAFE course in Accounting learn to do. People from UNSW who pursue careers in accounting tend to go into more specialised fields (eg. Auditing, Insolvency, Consultancy, etc...) which will require post-graduate qualifications...

    BComm at which unis??

I heard Mac's commerce degree will teach the best stuff, but when it comes to getting a job, I've heard graduate surveys have found UNSW Commerce has a much higher regard in big firms/companies.

    Accounting Cadetships

Have to be pretty shate not to get offered a grad spot IMO. Alot of cadets leave before they even commence CA to pursue careers in IB and consulting I've seen. Are you speaking that from experience? It depends on your firm I'd say- different firms place different priorities on the work they...

    Double Demerit Long Weekend

Haha... I like the talking ones. I think it'd be cool if they did the "say the alphabet backwards" thing- i was practicing this the other night after drinking and managed to wow everyone else :)... but then i missed a letter. Z. oops.

    Cars with faulty brake lights...

Haha I guess that's a pretty good reason to follow the 3 second gap rule... I could never fathom the real point of that under most circumstances since if you leave such a large gap, chances are another car will slide into that gap and then you have to slow down even further.

    Double Demerit Long Weekend

Didn't you guys go to that Honda place where they make you sit in a MDX and slam the foot on the brake at various speeds to show the effects? (it was an excursion for us)... I'm guessing that the 20km/h difference would cater for potentially slower reflexes of a new driver? *shrugs* No, but...

    Double Demerit Long Weekend

I'm inclined to think that the reason for speed limits on inexperienced drivers is because we are supposedly much more likely to have an accident, and if it's gonna be at a lower speed- then the results might not be so severe, or there might be a bigger gap to prevent the accident? *shrugs* But...
