Cannibal Corpse?

Dragonforce's song "Through the fire and the flames" had some black metal drumming in it.
Cannibal Corpse is probably the most overrated band ever. Carcass does the whole gore thing so much better. As are Dragonforce, who are really powerthrash, and are ridiculously cheesy, but then again, most power metal is. The drumming in that song (from what I've heard) sounds more like thrash drumming than black metal drumming, though.

With all due respect kind sir, the thread is wanting Metal recommendations, not Metalcore recommengaytions.
I suggest you read my original post again, I condemned that bloke for listening to metalcore.

id say the drumming is pretty typical power metal drumming... smashing the double kick is a staple of power metal (eagle fly free anyone?). Though he does a few blasts i guess. It wouldnt surprise me if there was some 'black metal drumming' in the song because after all dragonforce was formed by the old members of demoniac or something... a black metal band ;p

p.s does anyone find alot of black metal really quite intolerable? or are you all fans here?

I love black metal but can understand how people could hate it :p I'd wonder why i like it so much, but that'd involve unnecessary thinking.. i don't like thinking.

Celtic Frost, Venom, Mayhem, Emperor, Burzum and Marduk fucking rule, but I'm not into Black Metal too much.

Oh yeah, I wasn't actually saying it was thrash drumming, I was more saying that it was closer to thrash than it is to black.

Black metal just shits me because alot of the bands ive heard (which isnt much) have shithouse production quality and the guitars are either way too loud or so thin and weedy it sounds bad.
I like how the norweigan black metallers burn churches though ;D

and i agree with the drums spirit c ;p

That's usually intentional :p Black metal wouldn't be black metal with awesome production quality!

I hate death/black metal.

Is there any noticable difference between the two genres?

'Through the fire and the flames' is probably the only hardcore black drumming song there is, well, the only one on Inhuman Rampage. 'Trail of Broken Hearts' could possibly as well, but I don't know.

heh, yeh; my thoughts exactly.

some people even consider nin dancish.^_^
Wtf? Are you serious? The only song that could possibly fall under the catagory of dancish is maybe 'March of the Pigs' but that leans towards more hardcore/softcore moshing (because of the keyboard interlude in it).

Wolves in the Throne Room is about the only black metal I can stand and recommend.

ISIS and Agalloch are fucking solid metal bands that I'm totally gay for at the moment, listen to them before you die.

Opeth if you haven't tried them, but who hasn't tried Opeth though?

Mr. Bungle is the weirdest batshit crazy avant-garde metal band I've heard thus far, they're comical and fun and probably the best Mike Patton fronted project, try these guys.

Nice. Im listening to the songs on their myspace now, sounds really good. Im gonna have to obtain me some.

If you're in need of some really brutal sounding black metal, have a listen to WotanOrden. Particularly songs from their album "From The Storm Come The Wolves", when there was only two members. That band has my favourite vocals ever..

A couple of points:

> APC is not metal. It's alternative rock. You know why I know? Because I was their biggest fan for two years.
> Tool is progressive metal.
> I would consider Lacuna Coil hard rock
> Nine Inch Nails is officially considered not of any metal genre (I know I stated before that it was) but of Alternative/Industrial rock. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nine_Inch_Nails)

It's better trying to dance to March of the Pigs rather than Wish or Starfuckers Inc.
