Yeah it's painful to see metalcore bands mentioned in metal music topics.

the way I see it, if you're gonna go metal, go classic metal. I'm talking :

Metallica
Guns 'n Roses
Iron Maiden
Judas Priest
Pantera
Van Halen
Black Sabbath
Motorhead
Motley Crue
Rage Against The Machine
Deep Purple etc.

If you want specific albums, try:

Metallica - Master of Puppets (or just anything pre-black album)
Iron Maiden - Brave New World
Guns 'n Roses - Appetite For Destruction
Pantera - Vulgar Display of Power
Judas Priest - British Steel
Motorhead - Ace of Spades
Van Halen - Van Halen
Black Sabbath - Paranoid

That, my friends, is metal at it's finest.

I doubt this has been mentioned yet, so Agalloch. Awesome band, and you defiantely will like this if you are into Opeth.

edit: my bad, its already been mentioned. Enjoy the video regardless.

My list without reading the thread:

Hacksaw To The Throat
With Faith Or Flames
Converge
Between The Buried And Me
Amon Amarth
Dark Tranquility
Arch Enemy
Metallica
Slayer
Megadeth
Sodom
Opeth
Akercoke
Lamb Of God
Unearth
Immortal
Emperor
Imperial Crystalline Entombment
Behold... The Arctopus
Reflux
Chimaira
Mastodon
At The Gates
All That Remains
Bring Me The Horizon
Tool
Psycroptic
Ruins
As Blood Runs Black
Kalmah
HORSE The Band
The Berzerker

That's all I can think of at the moment without browsing through my collection. I also know that some of these bands are not strictly metal, but I don't care. I'm recommending music.

Want full hardcore? Dimmu Borgir, Behemoth, Marduk, Cradle Of Filth or Lamb of God (Even though LOG isn't that hard)...

If you want the hardcore vocals with progressive metal/experimental try Haggard, Ayreon or Finntroll.

Industrial metal try Deathstars, Wednesday 13 or Muderdolls. Fuck Manson he's a faking sellout.

For NuMetal... Rapcore... RapMetal... Try KoRn, SlipknoT, Staind, Limp Bizkit or System of a Down.

I found you talking about 'faking sellouts' before the last line pretty funny

Not strictly metal?
How about not even fucking close?
They have a few metal/hardcore influences. The Red Tornado from the new album has a section that i swore was from a Black Metal album when I first heard it. Nonetheless, they are awesome.

And everyone must get the new Between The Buried And Me album. It is one of the most amazing pieces of music I ahve ever heard.

i recommend them ;D

Annihilator are pretty good too though theyve probably been mentioned in this thread by now. (threads too long to read through it all atm).

Classic metal is sh*t.
It's no different to f*cking rock.
I mean who wants to listen to an idiot scream "Cat scratch fever"?
Honestly; my generation of metal was the best generation... Nu Metal, Rapcore, Alternative Metal, Industrial, Glam Goth... This new emo/screamo hardxcore stuff is absolute rubbish. Everyone has done emotional lyrics at some point... Well most bands do, Eminem for example; has said he wanted to slit his wrists... But why sing and do a stupid over-done American voice that sounds like you have a broom rammed down your throat? Classic metal... Jesus... Get with the times... Judas Priest was fromed 1968... 1968! Do you live under a rock?

Think in which way?
My opinion and you can't change that ;D
But I'll fight to keep mine above yours.
I don't care if I fall as long as someone picks up my gun and keeps on shooting >_<;

No-one will 'pick up your gun and keep shooting' with an abhorrent music taste such as yours.
