1) The Master strategist: power, purpose and principle: Ketan J Patel
the book for 5 bucks at the supermarket 240pp
Nelson mandela wrote an appraisal of this book

he tries to cover issues in history which crosses borders and territories throughout the ages- in chapter one. the book is about the need to develop more strategies for the modern era and not rely on classical approaches. i got

2) The Islamic Law by Abdurrahman Doi,
10 bucks from the store under lakemba mosque during ramadan

a good introductory book- i was interested in the principles, or overlying values that underly law. Its important to note that islamic law is not 1001 rules, but principles - that are intended to be good, and produce good outcomes- the real rules are developed by governments and islamic scholars will debate whether they are in line with islamic law- but there's a separation between islam and politics even though islamic teachings encompass politicians and politics.

currently reading the islamic criminal law. found the islamic international law and the schools of jurisprudence interesting.

3) gonna start reading: the alchemist- borrowed it from the library- it seems like a great book! its about a boy in muslim spain i think- and he's about to undertake a journey and fulfil his destiny- was appraised by 2 nobel laureattes
(non muslim author and so were the appraisors)

I really enjoyed the Da Vinci Code...once I got into it I couldn't put it down
Can't decide what to read next...I was going to read On The Jellicoe Road again but I'd kinda like to read something different

Reading Frankenstein for english, its actually really good, enjoying it quite a bit

It's an achievement if you finish it. The trend I've noticed is that people tend to get about 2/3 of the way through and then stop, even if they are enjoying it.
