Think I'll take Laz's comments over jm's, a) because it makes me feel good and b) because it's Laz.

Yeah although sometimes I envy people like you who go to a school where high marks are viewed as a good thing....

will all u guys, and by that i mean walla, frigid and skunk,
plz post ur results somewhere else? this is my thread for chances of getting 100 (in which case walla u can stay :p). and seriously, u'd get much better exposure by starting a new thread.

also, damn u walla, wish i went to a school where i could top everything...that would be sweet. then there'd be no pressure and competition at all from all the crazy cunts at my school

question for laz, or other experienced uai predictor

if i have a reasonable chance of getting 100, wot uai am i sitting on now, juz so i have an idea of how hard i have to work over the coming weeks. and also, how badly would i have to stuff up external exams to miss out on comb law at usyd?

I'm guessing 99.8/9

I would think ~99.80, give or take .10. Considering 99.00 requires an aggregate of around ~450 and 100 of around ~480, there really isn't much elbow room.

Let's assume that the aggregates between 99 and 100 form a simple rectangular distribution (which they don't, but they may as well; the differences should be negligible). There are 20 possible ranks above 99, spread over a range of roughly 30 marks. 30/20 = 1.5, and so each 0.05 is worth 1.5 marks. If my prediction is accurate - which it may or may not be - then in order to make it into USYD law, you can afford to lose 4 * 1.5 = 6 marks.

That's not much. :)

But, by the same token, an extra six marks could take you to 100.

Obviously, this is probably an oversimplification of what actually occurs, but it at least allows you to grasp where you stand from a theoretical viewpoint.

Sorry - the code doesn't behave when the forum is overloaded. And I think Mark said a quick delete button is planned for inclusion in the next update. :)
