    Roll Call: Class of 2018

It’s not to do with subjects but how well you do in them. Should probably start studying more
  2. captainneuro

    Memorising information/stats/facts fast and effectively

understand the content, memorise 9x faster

    unsw and "80% tutorial participation"

https://www.maths.unsw.edu.au/sites/default/files/math1131.pdf won't fail but won't get special consideration and stuff if needed later

Easier to transfer internally or externally?

doesn't matter, not gonna be favoured if wam is terrible

Bad Ranking School VS 90+ ATAR

It’s pretty unlikely since your school seemed to receive 3 b6’s altogether last year, but keep improving your ranks, esp. for maths. I’d estimate 80’s atm

Is a 98/99+ ATAR looking achievable at this stage?

Maintain rank in modern, 10th in first assessment will bring u down since poor school

How to excel in senior year studies (yr 11/12)-99+ ATAR graduate

start by typing when making notes for reasons pikachu said, but when actually studying closer to exams, start writing important concepts/things that you know are assessed as it'll help with memory

    90+ atar

w/ right subjects, individual and school rank, ya

    Should I do 12 units or 10?

Imo, drop French. You could keep it and put in unnecessary time and effort into a sub that most likely wont count and the time you spent studying for it could be spent on maximising your chances of attaining the best possible results/perfecting for your other subs, therefore your atar. 99.8 + ATAR w/ Std eng

Interesting, though articles like that won’t stop dedicated students from trying to achieve the best atar they can

    Is year 12 Hard ?

looking at your subs, you would need to put quite a bit of work in opposed to someone doing subs perceived as 'easier'

    Failed Maths Half Yearly???

If it helps, i know someone who was in your situation, dropped to general 2 weeks before trial, ended up getting band 6 for hsc. You can still get a band 6 in 2u, but would just need to work a lot harder, preferably coming top 30-40 from exams onwards, realistically speaking

    99.8 + ATAR w/ Std eng

    ~89-91 roughly speaking

    MQ Chatter Thread

u supreme being, yet this is my first sem and already pulled one
  15. captainneuro

    98+ atar

not necessarily, no. depends on the subjects, without 4u as well

    Need some guidance ASAP

You should be able to transfer after sem 1 to clinical optom at unsw with your atar (assuming it’s 97+ since you’re in actuary) If not, I wouldn’t recommend transferring courses but if you can’t bear it, maybe transfer to vision science (which has 96 cut off) and can do clinical optom after that

    English standard advice

    1. i think arrivederci meant 50% of externals + ~25% of internals left to be marked 2. really hard to say, i know people that received high 80's raw but end up with b5 cause terrible scaling 3. would be good to do so obvs, but adv do have slightly harsher marking method
  18. captainneuro

    atar estimate pls (hypothetical)

Number of band 6’s per subject last year?

    English standard advice

Need more info like school rank? 18/96 in one school is very different to another school
